George Albert Luedke was born June 4, 1932 and raised in New Bremen, the son
of Edwin and Millie Josie Machinsky Luedke. He attended the New Bremen
school and after graduating from Bellville High School in 1949. George
served his country in the United States Army from April 1953 to April 1955.
A resident of Bellville for 37 years, George retired in December, 1986 after
35 years of service with the Texas State Department of Transportation and
Public Works. He then moved to his home place in New Ulm where he enjoyed
spending time farming and ranching. Being a wildlife and nature lover,
George loved raising fruit trees and baby deer. He was a member of the
Industry - West End Lions Club, as well as a former member of the New Ulm
Volunteer Fire Department.
George passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2004 in Brenham after a courageous
battle with cancer, at the age of 71.
He is survived by his children, Douglas A. Luedke and wife Sharon of New
Ulm, Kathryn Baranowski of Industry, Bruce W. Luedke and wife Chana of New
Ulm; seven grandchildren, Cassie Luedke, Brian Luedke, Michael Daughtrey,
Jessica Daughtrey, Darian Edgar, Thomas Edgar, and Kayble Luedke; two great
grandchildren, Caitlyn Daughtrey and Zoe Daughtrey; mother, Millie Luedke of
New Ulm; brother, Marvin Luedke of New Ulm; and many other friends and
relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin; and brother, Curtis Luedke.
Prayer Vigil Services were held Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 6 p.m. at the
Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Gerald Dupont officiating. Funeral
Service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2004 at the Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church in Industry, with Father Timothy Bucek
officiating. Interment followed in the New Ulm Cemetery. Pallbearers were
Ronald Luedke, Jimmie Luedke. Delbert Luedke, Darrell Gross, Clyde Heiman
and Oliver Weishuhn.

American Cancer Society, Hospice Brazos Valley, the Industry-West End Lions
Club, or the charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home,
Bellville.
