Funeral Services for James Herman Mewis, 53, of Bellville were held on
Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004 from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Middleton officiating. Interment was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Ray Grawunder, Bill Mewis, Boyd Ueckert, Dusty Falk, Max Nehrkorn, and Dewitt Nehrkorn. Honorary pallbearers were Matt Jackson and Sherman Henderson.

James was born to parents James and Cordelia (Nehrkorn) Mewis on Sept. 16, 1950 in Bellville. He was raised in Bellville and attended Bellville public schools, graduating from Bellville High School in 1969.
James worked many years as a ranch hand for Bill Mewis. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing and cooking barbecue sauce for different functions.

James Herman Mewis passed away Jan. 31, 2004 at his mother's home in Bellville.

He is survived by his mother Cordelia Mewis of Bellville; good buddy Sly and numerous friends and cousins.

Preceded in death by his father, James Mewis.
