Funeral services for Charles E. Bolten, 55, of Sealy, were held Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Interment was at the Sealy Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers were Rodney Havemann, Royce Janca, Joe Villarreal, Russell Havemann, Mark Sowa, and Joe Mike Young. Honorary pallbearers were Brad Gohlke, Mark McClellan, Roy Gene Havemann and Donnie Sklar. Born in Houston, Texas, Charles Edwin Bolten was the son of Charles "Jack" Bolten and Gladys Pless Bolten. Charles was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Houston, attended public schools in Houston and Naval schools. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy and retired from the Navy reserves after twenty three ears, having reached the rank of Chief. On June 2, 1973, Charles and the former Miss Deborah Walkden were married with ceremony held in Newport, Rhode Island. He worked as a diesel mechanic for many years. Charles was a member of the Silver Spurs Riding Club and the Salt Grass trail Ride Wagon 28. Charles had a wonderful sense of humor that made him a people person. He was courageous and unselfish. He loved being in the Navy and he loved to fish. Charles E. Bolten died Tuesday, February 8, 2005 in Katy. Survived by his wife of 31 years, Deborah Bolten of Sealy, his parents Jack and Gladys Bolten of Sealy, his daughter Jody Ann Richter and her husband Glenn of Mentz, his son Charles M. Bolten and his fiancee Nicki Caddell of Sealy, his sisters Netie Havemann of Caldwell, Charlene Sowa and her husband Andrew of Sealy, Linda Ratjen and her husband Larry of Bellville, his brother David E. Bolten of Houston, his grandson Jack W. Richter of Mentz, his god-children Rodney Havemann, Kathy Gohlke, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his aunts and uncles Ennis Pless, Alma Schroeder, Mabel Hering, Deroy Bolten, William Mae Viereck, and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Pless and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bolten Sr. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Austin County Unit, PO Box 501, Bellville, TX, 77418.
