Bellville Times
Barbara Ann (Jones) Borgeson died December 4 at the age of 82 in Bellville after a long bout with illness. Mrs. Borgeson was born to Harry Clippinger Jones and Zola Frances Colwell Conrad in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1923. She leaves her husband of 61 years, Earl C. Borgeson of Bellville; their three children -- Barbara (Bobi) Borgeson and Geoffrey Borgeson of Bellville, and Steven Borgeson of Sherborn, Mass.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Borgeson also leaves her half-brother, Doug Jones of St. Louis, Missouri; and three nephews -- Warren Witt of Southlake, Texas, Fred Witt of Osseo, Minnesota and Nolan Jones of Sugar Land, Texas as well as one niece, Michelle Pratt of St. Louis. Mrs. Borgeson was preceded in death by her parents and only sister, Mary Louise Jones Witt. From 1958 to 1970, the Borgesons lived in Sudbury, Mass., where Mrs. Borgeson was an active community volunteer. She worked in the Sudbury public schools doing eye and ear testing, served as a deaconess at the Memorial Congregational Church, and devoted countless hours as a volunteer and spectator for the Sudbury Little League. She also worked part-time at Country Living, a classic clothing store. Following eight years in Palo Alto and Pasadena, California, Mr. and Mrs. Borgeson moved to Dallas in 1978 where Mr. Borgeson served for 10 years as Professor of Law and Director of the Underwood Law Library at Southern Methodist University School of Law. The Borgesons volunteered as "host family" for several students from Taiwan and the People's Republic of China who were studying at the SMU Law School and welcomed them into their home and family. During this time, Mrs. Borgeson worked at Clothes Circuit, a women's clothing resale shop. She also made three trips to Singapore to visit her daughter and two of her grandsons. Upon their retirement in 1988, the Borgesons moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, prior to their return to Massachusetts. They settled in Ashland and then Sherborn. They were fixtures on the sidelines of their grandchildren's soccer, baseball, and softball games in Sherborn and frequent visitors to Sunshine Dairy and C&L Frosty. Mrs. Borgeson, an avid mystery reader, often carried a Mrs. Polifax novel with her for between innings entertainment reading. A memorial service was conducted Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at Knesek Family Funeral Chapels, Bellville. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Mrs. Borgeson's name to the Houston chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 2909 W.
