Funeral Services for Bernice Crutchfield, 90, of Bellville, were held on
Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. from Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church
with the Rev. Tim Bucek celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal.
Interment was in the Oak Knoll Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Dr. Joe Kocks Jr., Michael Kocks, Matthew Kocks,
Chris Kocks, James Crutchfield and Michael Crutchfield.
Bernice was born in San Antonio, the daughter of James Sylvester and Hanna
Josephine (Higgins) Bundren. She was raised in San Antonio and attended St.
Mary's Elementary in San Antonio.
She went to further her education at Our Lady of the Lake College in San
Antonio.
On June 4, 1947 the former Miss Bernice Bundren was joined in marriage to
Mr. John David Crutchfield with a ceremony held in San Antonio.
Bernice worked for Hurta Drug Store for 30 years. She was a member of Sts.
Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Bellville General Hospital Auxiliary and
Bellville Golf and Recreation Club.
Bernice Crutchfield passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2005 in Bellville.
Bernice is survived by: Her daughter, Mary Ann Kocks and husband Dr. Joe
Kocks of Austin; sons James (Jay) Crutchfield and wife Susan of Sealy, John
David Crutchfield  Jr. of Waco; grandchildren Dr. Joe Kocks Jr., Michael
Kocks Mary Elizabeth Kocks Koleng, Matthew Kocks, Karen Kocks Evertson,
Christopher Kocks,  James Crutchfield, Cindy Crutchfield, Kathy Crutchfield
and Micheal Crutchfield; great grandchildren Cody, Chloe, Katy, Cooper,
Mariann Elizabeth, Joseph and two on the way and numerous nieces, nephews
and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, James Sylvester and Hanna Josephine
Bundren; husband, John David "Dave" Crutchfield; sister Edith Roy and
brothers Byron and James Bundren.
