Bellville Times
Lewis Robert Ravell Lewis was born July 1, 1937 in Baltimore, Md., the son of John Thomas and Mane Bonkoska Lewis. He grew up and attended school in Baltimore, before serving his country in the United States Army. In 1960, he went to work for the Baltimore Fire Department where he started out at the engine house. He later worked with the ambulance crew, and retired in 1988 as an arson investigator. Bob also lived in West Virginia before making his home in Bellville. He was employed by Bellville ISD as a bus driver and a security guard at the high school campus, where he was fondly known as "Mr. Bob" by all the students. He enjoyed fishing, traveling with his faithful companion, Max, a Yorkshire terrier, and eating, especially Blue Bell ice cream. Bob was a member of Nelsonville Brethren Church, the Bellville Masonic Lodge #223 AF & AM the Bellville Volunteer Fire Department arid the Bellville American Legion Post #115 and the Bellville VFW Post #6522. He passed away Saturday, May 28, 2005 in Bellville at the age of 67. He is survived by: Sons Robert Lewis and his wife, Debbie, Steven Lewis and his wife Lisa, and Douglas Lewis, all of Maryland; grandchildren Jamie Lewis, Kevin Lewis, Jennifer Lewis, Stephanie Lewis and Douglas Lewis; brother Gregory Lewis; special friends Roland and Margie Reynolds; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the Nelsonville Brethren Church with the Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating. Graveside services followed at the National Cemetery in Bleiblerville under the auspices of the Bellville Masonic Lodge #223. AF & AM. Pallbearers were Kevin Lewis, Steven Lewis. Douglas Lewis, Mark Reynolds, Mike Reynolds and Scott Kana. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Bellville Volunteer Fire Department, 106 S. Holland, Bellville. Texas 77418, Hospice Brazos Valley, 705 South Austin St. Brenham, Texas 77833 or to the Nelsonville Brethren Church, 332 Nelsonville Church Rd., Bellville, Texas 77418.
