Lock Everett Harve Lock, 90, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2005 in Houston. Everett was born June 4, 1914 in Chanute, Kansas to Verne and Hilda Elnora Freiderich Lock. He grew up in Chanute where he graduated from high school and attended junior college. A resident of Bellville since 1976, he had previously lived in Wichita, Kansas, Tulsa, Okla. and Houston. Over the course of his career, Everett had been employed by Beech Aircraft, Skelly Oil Company, Carter Oil Company Research Lab, Humble Research Lab and Exxon. His first wife, Francis Elizabeth Becannon, whom he married on March 17, 1942, preceded him In death on May 13,1986. He is survived by his current wife, Osie Weinke Lock, whom he married Jan. 2,1988. Everett's childhood was spent living on a farm. As a young man he rode motorcycles and rebuilt a Model-T, incorporating a motorcycle engine. During his professional career he was co-inventor of 17 U.S. patents. After his retirement in 1978, Everett enjoyed painting multiple landscapes and portraits. Also, he developed a specialized knowledge of computers which he used to restore antique pictures and enhance photographs. One of his memorable comments was, "I am sitting here at the computer right now having it tell me how to operate it." A member of the Bellville Masonic Lodge #223. AF & AM, he was a 32nd Degree Mason. Everett is survived by his wife Osie W. Lock of Bellville; daughter Jane Anne Lock Hawkins and her husband, James F. Hawkins, of Annandale, Va.; son Timothy H. Lock and his wife, Marsha E. Lock, of Waxahachie, Texas; and grandchildren James F. Hawkins II, Timothy John Hawkins and his wife, Lynn Eisinger Hawkins, Sean Christopher Lock, Stephen H. Lock, Sarah Elizabeth Lock and Samuel Timothy Lock; sister Inez L. Berthot of Chanute, Kansas; step daughters Deborah Cochran and her husband, Gerald Cochran, Denise H. Roberts and her husband, Randall Roberts; step grandchildren Keeley Dawn Kurtz, Kelsey Elaine Kurtz and Natalie Alyssa Nutter; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Francis. Visitation for Mr. Lock was held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2005 at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville. Funeral Service was held Friday, June 3,2005 at 10 a.m. at Bellville United Methodist Church with Pastor Wayne Middleton officiating. Masonic Graveside Service followed at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery under the auspices of the Bellville Masonic Lodge #223, AF & AM. Pallbearers were James F. Hawkins, II, Timothy-John Hawkins, Sean Christopher Lock, Stephen H. Lock, Sarah Elizabeth Lock and Samuel Timothy Lock.
