Loesch Funeral Services for Martin Loesch, 80, of Brenham, were held Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at 11 a.m., from St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem with Pastor Suzanne Guinn officiating. Interment was at St. James Lutheran Cemetery in New Wehdem. Serving as pallbearers were Daniel Gaskamp, Thruman Laminack, Erie Arning, Elwood Arning, B.Y. Lynn, and Larry Arceneaux. Honorary Pallbearers were Boyd Neagle, and Erland Arning. Martin L. Loesch was born March 22, 1925 in Kenney, the son of Alvin and Lenora (Dahse) Loesch. He was raised in Kenney and attended Kenney School. In 1943, Mr. Loesch and the former Gertrude Duve were married with ceremony held in Kenney. They moved to Houston where they both worked as grocery clerks for 20 years. Upon their return to Kenney, he and Gertrude did lawn and janitorial work for various churches. He also enjoyed his employment with the Brenham Police Department working as a custodian in 1981 until his retirement in 1995. Martin was a soft spoken man who had a very soft heart for babies and his dog Baxter. He enjoyed woodcrafts and repairing lawn mowers with longtime friend and neighbor Mr. Laminack. He enjoyed fishing, mowing his lawn and attending local dances with his friends having a wonderful time dancing to waltzes and polkas. Martin will be sadly missed by Elwood and Diane Arning and family who have looked after Martin for 22 years. Martin Loesch died Friday Sept. 16, 2005, in Bellville. Survived by his sisters Dorothy Brown of Brenham, Shirley Filipp of Danbury and Jeanette Shobe of Florida, as well as other relatives and many friends. Preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Lenora Loesch, wife Gertrude Loesch, and brothers Pete and Donald Ray Loesch. The family would like to thank Mr. Laminack for being a good friend and neighbor, Dr. Don R. Bosse for such good care and the Briarwood Manor staff for their care and attention. Bellville General Hospital is also much appreciated. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bellville General Hospital or St. James Lutheran Church.
