George Lee Pacher was born February 2, 1929 to George H. and Susanna Pacher in Lyons, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1950 to December 1952 during the Korean War. On February 2, 1953, he married Merle Braden at St. Roch's Catholic church in Mentz, Texas. They had one daughter and three sons. George was a foundry foreman at WKM. Later in life, he took over his father's business. George's Shoe Shop, after his father passed away in 1992. He enjoyed visiting with his customers as well as people who just came by to talk a while. He was always ready to talk. He loved to go to Mentz to feed his cattle and relax at the camp house. George was also a daily visitor at the "Round table" at Tony's. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his sons and grandson at the deer lease in Blanco. After the season was over, the family always gathered at the camphouse to make sausage according to George's direction. "Pop-po" to his grandchildren, could be found at most family gatherings at the pit cooking up delicious barbecue. He was also an avid Sealy Tiger Football fan. George was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church in Sealy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3313 and the American Legion. George was a member of the Peace Officer's Association of Austin County. George Lee Pacher passed away on April 8 at his home in Sealy at the age of 76. he leaves his wife Merle of 52 years, daughter Debbie and son-in-law Joe Kahanek of Lake Jackson; sons, donnie Pacher and wife Loyce of Sealy, David Pacher and wife Terri of Sealy, Darin Pacher and wife Kristie of Hunstville; grandchildren, Jennifer Kirschner and husband Jay of Angleton, Kasey Kahanek of Lake Jackson, Leslie Pacher of Huntsville, Jessica Pacher of Sealy, Ryan Pacher and Hailey Pacher of Sealy, Chase Pacher and Paige Pacher of Huntsville. he is survived also by his sisters, Annie Mae Sodolak of Sealy and Dorothy Sliva and husband Steve of Sealy and numerous nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents George H. Pacher and Susanna Schubert Pacher. funeral services were held on Monday, April 11 at the Immaculate Conceptions churchin Sealy at 10 a.m. with Father Octavia Muguera officiating. Pallbearers were Greg Adams, Kenneth Becker, Russell Becker, Lynn Braden, Keith Husky, Jay Kirschner, Kevin Sodolak, and Andrew Weido. Honorary pallbearers were the Knights of Columbus Council #3313. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Home in Sealy. Internment was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Sealy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund. Posted by Joy Neely
