Colin "Wally" Chrystal passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the age of 61 years following a valiant 13-month battle with brain cancer. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Lyn Chrystal, his daughters Jayne (Kevin) Heinrich and their children Sarah, Torrie and Rachael Leis and Megan and Erin Heinrich of Medicine Hat, Deborah (Bobby) Latiolais and their children Jacob, Ellie and Ben of Madisonville, La., and Beverley Chrystal of Dallas, Texas. Wally will also be missed by his ³mom² (mother-in-law) Mary Andrews of Leek, Staffordshire, England and seven brothers and sisters (and their families): Allan (Joanne) Chrystal of Surrey, B.C., Len (Maureen) Chrystal of Sydney, Australia, and Neville (Alice) Chrystal, Lillian Prinsloo, Lorraine (Kevin) McLeod, Melanie (Peter) Risi and Francis Van Den Bergh all of South Africa, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his father, Leonard Chrystal, his mother, Elizabet Van Den Bergh, Lynıs father, Gerald Andrews, and one nephew Stanley Potts. Wally was born in Brakpan, Transvaal, South Africa on Aug. 3, 1944. In 1977 he immigrated to Canada with Lyn and the girls and the family settled in Medicine Hat, Alberta where Wally established many friendships through his employment with I-XL Industries as well as his active involvement with Fifth Avenue United Church, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Kiwanis Club. In 1986 Wallyıs career brought the family to Bellville, where he and Lyn resided until his retirement from ACME Brick in April of 2005. Wally loved Bellville and continued his community involvement as an active member of the Bellville Lions Club, the Bellville Historical Society and Bellville Methodist Church as well as being a founding member of the Bellville Economic Development Board. Wallyıs final days were spent at the Hospice at Texas Medical Center in Houston, where he (and his family) received outstanding compassionate care. The family will celebrate Wallyıs life with a memorial service at noon on Friday June 30 at Concordia Hall, South Tesch, Bellville, Texas.
