On Jan. 19, 2008, after a brief illness Grace K. Brisco, 82, of Sheridan, Texas passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Myrtle Burford Kiefer, daughter Beverly Brisco and son-in-law Reginald Pope. She leaves behind her husband of 62 years Harry A. Brisco Sr. of Sheridan; daughter Bonita Pope of Rosenberg; son Harry A. Brisco Jr and wife Karen of Bellville; grandchildren Amanda Pope, Justin Brisco and wife Ellen, and Rebecca Martin and husband David; great grandchildren Elizabeth and Martha Brisco and Elyssa Martin; and sister Kathryn Parham of Schulenburg. Grace was born March 16, 1925 in St. Louis, Wellston, Mo. to Henry and Myrtle Burford Kiefer. She married Harry in April of 1945 and moved to Texas to raise her family. Grace was more than a mother, grandmother, sister or friend. She was a shining example of Christianity. Her loving, generous ways will be treasured by all who knew her. She is the treasure of our family, our matriarch, our example for how our lives are to be lived. Through her tenderness of heart she was given hope to more than one generation. We are thankful to have had her as long as we did. Funeral services were held Tuesday Jan. 22, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus with Bill Edwards and Sherrell Speer officiating. Interment followed in Myrtle Cemetery in Rock Island. Pallbearers were Traylor Walker, Franklin Walker, Clint Brisco, Javier Perez, Jimmy Brisco and Reggie Brisco. Honorary pallbearer was John Parham. The family would like to thank caregiver Peggy Behne for her support during Grace's illness.
