Dwayne Vernon Mensch was born the son of Eugene Vernon Jr. and Ann (Hubbard) Mensch in Pasadena,
Texas on Dec. 12, 1962. He grew up and attended school in Deer Park. Dwayne worked construcion for Brown and Root before moving to New Ulm in the late 1980s. He
worked for Blue Bell until 1994 when he made his journey to Pasadena to return to work for Brown and Root. In 2003, he moved and made his home in Bellville.
Dwayne was very talented, creative, and was very skilled with his hands. He loved to take scraps of
wood and metal to create everything from birdhouses to benches. He was a country boy through and through and loved all of God’s creation. Dwayne was baptized at
the Deer Park Church of Christ at the age of 18 and was later a member of the Bellville Church of Christ.
Dwayne passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, in Bellville at the age of 46. He is survived by his
daughter, Stephanie Hemphill and husband, Bryan, of League City, sons, Darren Mensch and wife, Margaret, of Kilgore, and Justin Vincent of Brenham; parents Vernon
and Ann Mensch of Bellville, sisters, Shirley Wendt and husband, Roy, of Nelsonville and Brandi Gibson and husband, Kyle, of Katy. He is also survived by his six
grandchildren, three nephews, two nieces and his grandfather, Erwin Schroeder of New Ulm.
Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009 at the Schmidt Funeral Home.
Funeral service was at 10 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009 at the Bellville Church of Christ with
Brother Charles Wilson officiating.
Interment was at New Ulm Cemetery in New Ulm.
