History & Town Links

The Galveston Daily News
21 July 1878
"State news "Bandera County"
"Bandera is a flourishing little frontier town of three or four hundred inhabitants... it looks rather odd to see everybody in this frontier country wearing six shooters around them and carrying winchesters with them everywhere they go.... A good many poeple from San Antonio come out here in the mountains every summer for their health. The water is splendid, coming from springs to the sides of the mountains. There is any quantity of game, such as deer, turkey, bear and fox. "
