GARY B. MCGAUGHEY
Funeral for Gary B. (Gunch) McGaughey, 57, of Diboll, was April 16 in the Carroway- Claybar Funeral Home chapel in Lufkin with Andy Gossett and the Rev. Jeff Stull officiating. Burial was in Alto City Cemetery. Mr. McGaughey died April 13, 2007. He was born Nov. 28, 1949, in Jacksonville to Ora Mae Dixon and H.B. (Rip) McGaughey. He grew up in Alto where he played football and baseball and graduated from Alto High School in 1968. He attended Kilgore College and received an associate degree in industrial drafting. He resided in Diboll for 36 years. He was a former member of the Lufkin Bass Club, the Ryan Lake Hunting Club and coached Diboll Youth Baseball for many years. He was a supervisor for Fiber Products, Temple-Inland for 31 years and a member of the Diboll First United Methodist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother-in-law, Capt. Francis Townsend.
Survivors are his wife of 38 years, Jeannie Townsend McGaughey of Diboll; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Celsa McGaughey of Diboll; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marla and Kenneth Dudley of Cypress and Jana and Orlando Estrada of Diboll; grandchildren, Chandlyr and Eli McGaughey of Diboll, Avery and Abigail Dudley of Cypress, Andrew and Lily Kate Estrada of Diboll; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles and Rena McGaughey of Bullard and Jimmy McGaughey of Alto; a sister and brother-inlaw, Mary Gay and Phillip Hennage of Sands Springs, Okla.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robin and Janet Townsend of Alvin; four sisters-in-law and brothersin law, Marilyn and John Beeson of Rusk, Sheila and Gaylon Johnson of Rusk, Janet and Wade Holder of Bandera and Joni and John Speanburg of Coppell; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Betty Townsend of Rusk; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral for Sylvania Mc- Carty, 88, of Jacksonville, was at 3 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home chapel with Davy Carter officiating. Burial was in Providence Cemetery.
Mrs. McCarty died April 24, 2007. She was born Nov. 21, 1918, in Montgomery County, Ala. She was a homemaker.
Survivors are a sister, Lula Bell Patrick of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
CHRISTENE S. WALTERS
Funeral for Christene S. Walters, 79, of Jacksonville, was at 1 p.m. Saturday at Autry Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in Earle's Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Walters died April 24, 2007. she was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Ironton. She was a Wal-Mart greeter in the garden center and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors are three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Kelly Walters of Lindale, Kenneth and Brenda Walters of Troup and Keith and Melody Walters of Jacksonville; a daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Dean Brown of Tyler; a sister, Sheila Vanella of Denver, Colo.; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one niece. Honorary pallbearers were Wal-Mart associates.

MOSES
Funeral for Wayne Moses, 67, of Tyler, was at 2 p.m. Sunday at Autry Funeral Home chapel.
Mr. Moses died April 25. He was born Jan. 27, 1940, in Bay City. He retired from TXU and was a member of the Overton Missionary Baptist Church. Preceding him in death was his wife, O'Gretta Moses in 2006.
Survivors are a sister and brother-in-law, Deanie and Gerald Gray of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Carlos Garza, Fred Weidner, Lee Johnson, Mavis Moore, Charles Crumpton and Greg Starr. Honorary pallbearers were Baylor New Hearts and Lungs Transplant recipients. Funeral for Lloyd Elton Felder, 85, of Kingsbury, formerly of Alto, was at 10 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church of Kingsbury with the Rev. Woodfin G. Howeth IV officiating.
Burial was in San Geronimo Cemetery at Seguin, under direction of Palmer Mortuary in Seguin.
Mr. Felder died April 25, 2007, in Seguin. He was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Alto to the late Charlie D. and Mary Alberta Glenn Felder. He lived in Kingsbury for the last 20 years. Pallbearers were Francis Frederick, Woodfin (Howie) G. Howeth IV, Allen Bridges, Chad Conrey, Sam Hollida, Eugene Boeck and Bill Harborth.
JOHN HENRY GIBSON
Graveside service for James Henry Gibson, 82, of Rusk was at 2 p.m. April 28, at Rosewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Humble under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral. Mr. Gibson died April 25, 2007. He was born Dec. 23, 1924, to John H. and Hattie L. Hundy Gibson. He was a Rusk resident 10 years, formerly of Houston. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, a truck driver and served in the U.S. Military in World War II.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Lois M. Gibson, and a son, James Milton Gibson in 1957. Survivors include his wife Lucille Colvin Gibson of Rusk and several nieces and nephews.
ROSIE JANE MIDDLETON DUDLEY
Funeral for Rosie Jane Middleton Dudley, 90, of Cove Springs, was at 10 a.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Shane Morgan, the Rev. Dale Jamerson and the Rev. Gary Dollarhide officiating. Burial was in Old Jacksonville City Cemetery. Mrs. Dudley died April 25, 2007. She was born Oct. 16, 1916, in Maydelle. Preceding her in death were her husbands, Charlie McMichael and Glen Dudley; parents, William D. Middleton and Nancy Carrie Masters; daughter, Nelda Rawlinson; five brothers, Frank Middleton, R. L. Middleton, George Middleton, Wesley Middleton and Elige Middleton; and three sisters, Roxy Kilgore, Irene Freeman and Thelma Work.
Survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Brenda McMichael of Jacksonville and Charles and Elizabeth Stewart of Aumsville, Ore.; adopted daughter, Pamela Hernandez of Jacksonville; sister, Catherine Sanders of Jacksonville; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a step-grandson. Pallbearers were William Wiggins, Dale Clark, Rodney Jayroe, Danny Aber, Chuck Busby and Marc Bolton.
LLOYD F. BURNS
Funeral for Lloyd F. Burns, 83, of Wells, was at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Falvey United Methodist Church. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Burns died Saturday. He was born March 5, 1924, in Wells to Marion and Aver Ellerbee Burns. He had lived in Wells for 25 years. He retired from the U.S. Army and Air Force. He served in World War II as a medic, receiving a Bronze Star for valor in action.
He later worked as an office manager at Texas Employment Commission in the Houston- Conroe area for 22 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Falvey United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Reatha Trelba Sessions Burns and a brother, Hoy Burns.
Survivors are three sons, Jeffrey L. Burns of Conroe, Phillip H. Burns of Montgomery and Perry A. Burns of Magnolia; two sisters, Maverion McGill of Bellville and Hazel Jean Courson of Fredricksburg; four grandchildren, Christopher, Leanne, Logan and Ryan Burns.

That plan changed when she met and married George M. Hilliard Jr., who had interest in the study of medicine which he completed in 1935. The family moved to Jacksonville in 1945 after Dr. Hilliard had served four years military duty.
Her continued interest in the medical profession was evident by her many years of work in the Cherokee County Medical Auxiliary and her volunteer work at Nan Travis Memorial Hospital, now East Texas Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law Dr. George and Carmen Hilliard of Longview, James R. Funeral for Madelyn Sharp, 83, of Alto, formerly of Rusk, was at 2 p.m. Monday in the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home chapel with the Rev.David Darst officiating. Burial was in Alto City Cemetery.
Mrs. Sharp died Saturday (April 28, 2007). She was born April 21, 1924, in Alto to Arthur and Gladys Finch Brooks. She was a member of the Rusk First United Methodist Church, a homemaker and beautician.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles Sharp; and brothers, Travis Brooks, Pete Brooks and R.L. Brooks.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Sharla and Marshall Corley of Alto; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Linda Sharp of Tyler; three brothers and two sisters-inlaw, A.L. (Boots) Brooks of Alto, W.A. (Bill) and Marge Brooks of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Arthur and Joy Brooks of Lufkin; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley and Dave Meeks and Nancy Brooks, all of Mineola; five grandchildren, Stephanie Davis, Clint Corley, Shelly Kornegay, Christy Imbriele and Shelly Tubbs; nine great-grandchildren, Corin Kirkpatrick, Brooke Kirkpatrick, Carson Corley, Seth Kornegay, Zack Kornegay, Sophia Imbriele, Kyle Frank, Cara Frank and Ashley Davis.

Graveside service for Janey Moore, 90, of Alto, formerly of Tyler will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Alto City Cemetery under the direction of O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home.
Mrs. Moore died Sunday (April 29, 2007). She was born July 10, 1916, in Alto, to Daniel Benjamin and Ella Watters Singletary. She was a Methodist and had been a school teacher for 42 years. She taught school throughout East Texas and spent the last 20 years of her career in Tyler. She was preceded in death by her husbands, A.G. Oliphint and E.E. Moore; and a brother, D.B. Singletary.
Survivors are three sons, Albert W. Oliphint of Alto, Charles R. Oliphint of Tyler and Harold T. Oliphint of Austin; a daughter, Erma Bartee of Lake Jackson; a sister, Doris Hartman of Alto; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home. Mrs. Crisp died May 2. She was born Sept. 9, 1933, in Cherokee County. She was a homemaker and a member of Taylor's Chapel Church.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Doyle Crisp; a son, Travis Crisp; a daughter, Cindy Crisp; and parents, J. H. and Essie Lorene Patterson.

Funeral for Henry M. Attaway, 81, of Rusk, was at 2 p.m. Friday at Shady Grove Church of Christ with Darryl Bowdrie officiating. Burial was in Woodville Cemetery under direction of Mercy/McGowan Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Mr. Attaway died April 30, 2007. He was born May 30, 1925, in Rusk and was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County. He retired from Texas State Highway Department and was a member of Shady Grove Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by one son and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Sammie Mae Attaway of Rusk; two sons, Craig Attaway of Henderson, and Gerald Attaway of Rusk; three daughters, Louann Attaway of Tyler, Michelle Jackson of Rusk and Jackie Craig of Mexia; two sisters, Fannie Freeney and Velma Miller, both of Dallas; and 13 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Craig Attaway, Corey Attaway, Gregory Attaway, Byron Bennett, Phal Carter and Fletcher Sessions . Honorary pallbearers were friends.

Mr. Hunter died May 1. He was born June 15, 1932, in Halletsville to Wallace and Lula Ponton Hunter. He was a resident of Rusk for 36 years and formerly resided in San Antonio. He retired from Rusk State Hospital after 30 years. He was a member of Rusk Church of Christ and past master of Rusk Euclid Lodge. Mr. Hunter served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn A. Hunter, in 2005; a son, Rick Hunter; and a sister, Bobbie Graham. Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Jim Hoffman of Victoria; a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Susan Hunter of Rusk; two granddaughters, Kimberly Flowers and Larissa Hoffman, both of Victoria; two great-granddaughters, Morgann Zimmer and Brooke Hoffman, both of Victoria; great-grandson, James Hoffman of Victoria; his father-in-law, Howard Gardner of Rusk and several nieces and nephews. Funeral for Arnold (Mutt) Dosser, 84, of Rusk was at 2 p.m. Sunday at Autry Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Copeland and the Rev. Tommy Mabry officiating. Burial was in Mount Comfort Cemetery.
Mr. Dosser died May 2. He was born Aug. 15, 1922, in Alderbranch. He was a mechanic, farmer and Baptist. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Preceding him in death was his wife, Wanda Dosser.
Survivors are four sons and daughters-in-law, Arnold Ray and Dorothy Dosser, Tommy and Vonda Dosser and Larry Dosser, all of Rusk and Donald Ray and Shirley Dosser of Jacksonville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Beth and Juan Hernandez of Wells and Patsy and Richard Priesto of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Wesley Dosser of Maydelle and James Dosser of Abilene; a sister, Anita McPike of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral for Clyde Rhoades, 89, of Jacksonville, was at 10 a.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home chapel with Dr. John Brown officiating. Burial was at 2 p.m. Sunday at Restland Cemetery, Roxton.
Mr. Rhoades died May 3. He was born Feb. 7, 1918, in Roxton.

Mrs. Burse died May 3, 2007. She was born March 23, 1922, in Lake Charles, La. She graduated from the Second Ward High School and attended the school of nursing in San Francisco, Calif. for several years before moving to Jacksonville. She was employed as a nurse at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in San Francisco and retired from the Stanford University Hospital in 1984. Survivors are a son, Henderson L. Love of Houston; two daughters, Doris Jean Love of Houston and Prophetess DeAnn Torregano of Jacksonville; a brother, Leo Allen Holmes of Lake Charles; a sister, Norma Lee Warmsley of San Francisco; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith was a Rusk resident most of his life and a member of the Rusk First Baptist Church. He was in the restaurant, tire and roofing business. He worked at Oregon State Hospitals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Nina Pearl Webb Smith, step-father, Earl C. Jones and several nieces and nephews. Survivors are his wife of 41 years, Mildred Smith of Rusk; and a son, Lee Smith of Jacksonville.

Mr. Boatman died May 7, 2007. He was born April 28, 1924, in New Summerfield. He was a chemical plant operator for Monsanto Chemical Co. in Texas City for 30 years. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Corine and served in the U.S. Army. Preceding him in death was his wife, Billie Terry Boatman. Mrs. Burton died May 8, 2007. She was born Sept. 12, 1935, in Carthage, Miss.
She received her bachelors degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee and completed her anesthesia training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, La.
She moved to Jacksonville in 1959 to work at Nan Travis Memorial Hospital.
She married Phillip Ray Burto in in 1960, who preceded her in death in 1989.
Mrs. Burton is survived by her children and their spouses, Phyllis and Greg Dacus of Tyler, Mary Margaret and Bill Weddington of Fort Worth; and Grey and Keri Burton of Nacogdoches; and grandchildren, Haley, Rachel and Grant Dacus and Peyton, Austin and Adisan Burton.

He was a painter for 45 years and a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-46.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Susie Sides Roberts, in 2002. Mrs. Chilson died May 10. She was born April 10, 1915, in Kalkaska, Mich. to the late Elera and Nora Sumner Potter. She was a Rusk resident for 13 years and was formerly of Rapid City, Mich. She was a member of Reklaw Baptist Church and a retired secretary for an insurance company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Chilson; son, Ward Garrison; and daughter, Carolyn Will.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jo-Ann and Maxwell Huffman of Plano, Janice Borque of Beaumont and Helen and Aaron Higgins of Reklaw; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Mrs. McMinn died May 9, 2007. She was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Columbia, Miss. to the late Errol and Dorothy Smith. She was a Rusk resident for 12 years and formerly resided in New Orleans, La., Woodbridge, N.J. and Tuscaloosa, Ala. She was a Baptist. She had a diverse work record ranging from school administration to comptroller of a major magazine producer.
She is preceded in death by her son Jan Branton McMinn. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, J.B. (Bill) McMinn of Rusk; a son and daughter-inlaw, Robert E. and Tracee Mc- Minn of Odessa; one grandson, Hunter McMinn of Odessa; and one granddaughter, Jessica K. McMinn of Tampa, Fla.

She worked for Western Union during World War II and returned to Dallas to work for Androtti Oil Company. She was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church where she was involved with the Prime Time Bible Class; was devoted to volunteer organizations in the church, the Vagabonds Club and other groups.
Preceding her in death were her husbands, Bert J. Mitchell and J.J. Marcus and her brothers Ernest and Ford Johnson. Heyman (Blondie) Hugghins, 94, of Mesquite, formerly of
Midland, was at 3 p.m. May 22 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with
Pastor Richard W. Edwards officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial
Park, Midland under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
Mr. Hugghins died Friday, May 18.
Mr. Hugghins was born Dec. 22, 1912 in Rusk to John Hoover and Atha Hendrick Hugghins.
He grew up in East Texas and was cared for by his grandparents and his Aunt Bertie and Aunt Edith after his mom died of influenza in 1918, while his dad worked in the West Texas oil fields. Later he graduated from the Stephen F. Austin Training School and taught high school for three years in the Nacogdoches area. He owned a men's haberdashery for a short time in East Texas and in 1935 joined Gulf Oil Corp. in Crane.
He and Margaret Johnston married in June 1940. They moved to Midland in 1959. His professional career included well service, geology, engineering, maintenance management and purchasing. He retired from Gulf as regional manager of transportation and purchasing in 1978 after 42 years of service.
Mr. Hugghins served during World War II in the U S Army Signal Corp, December 1942- August 1946, while stationed in Sacramento, Calif., Baltimore Md., Okinawa, Japan and the Philippine Islands. He was an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church since 1960, until his move to Mesquite in 2002.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Hugghins, in 2002, his brother Tommie and his parents and step mother, Tella Hughes.
Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Cathy Hugghins of Fort Dodge, Iowa; a daughter and son-inlaw, Hedy and Buz Sawyers of Rowlett; five grandchildren, Taylor and Sam Sawyers of Rowlett; and Seth, Luke and Hope Hugghins of Fort Dodge; nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins, some in the Rusk area.

Wall
Military and Masonic services for Leonard L. Wall were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Autry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Vernon Lee and the Rev. Phillip Warren officiating. Burial was in Still Waters Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Wall died May 22. He was born in Cherokee, Iowa, July 18, 1923, to Francis and Harry Wall.
His family moved to Hughson, Calif. in 1926 then to Salinas in 1928.
Mr. Wall served in the US Navy from 1942-45 on the destroyer, USS Fletcher, in the South Pacific and the Soloman Islands as a fireman. Following the war Mr. Wall worked as a mechanic in Salinas until moving to San Raphael in 1955.
He moved back to Salinas in 1965 where he owned and operated his automotive garage until retirement.
In 1993 he moved to Jacksonville. He was a member of the Jacksonville First Baptist Church.
He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and served in Salinas and Jacksonville and as "Master of Dixie Lodge in Troup."
Mr. Wall is survived by his wife, Mildred Wall of Jacksonville; two daughters, Sharon Schuyler and Shona Shows of Alamo, Calif.; granddaughter, Sabrina Nelson, Chicago, Ill.; step-children, John Prewitt and Jerry Lanier of Jacksonville, Kathlyn Cooper of Pittsburg, Milton Prewitt and Ronald Prewitt and numerous step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ray Ainsworth, E.C. Blount, Kent Kirkpatrick, Jerald Pinson, Nathaniel Pinson and Josh Prewitt.

Mr. Lane died May 25. He was born May 25, 1922, in Gallatin. He worked in the oil business and was a Methodist.

Funeral for Carroll Wayne Moseley, 73, of Whitehouse, formerly of Rusk, was at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at the First Baptist Church in Tyler with the Rev. Dr. Michael Massar officiating.

Mr. Moseley died Wednesday, May 16, 2007. He was born Oct. 30, 1933, in Rusk to Henry Lee and Alice Moseley.
Mr. Moseley grew up in Rusk where he graduated high school and attended Tyler Junior College and Stephen F. Austin State University.
Later he enlisted into the United States Army.
He became a motorcycle policeman for the Tyler Police Department for four years during the early 1960s.
After his time on the police force he began working in the Juvenile
Probation department before furthering his career as the Chief Adult Probation Officer for Smith County during the mid-1960s.
Mr. Moseley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tyler and was the director of the Radio Bible Class.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his first wife, Joy Fox Moseley.
Survivors are wife, Sue Moseley of Whitehouse; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike and Dena Moseley of Tyler, Kelly Moseley of Whitehouse and Donald Dudley of Tyler; two daughters and a sonin law, Kathy Moseley of Tyler, and Amy and Kevin Lampin of Tyler; grandchildren, Wendy, Kevin, Michael, Rebecca, Abbi, Thomas, Elizabeth, and Wesley; great-grandchild, Josi; and a sister and brother-inlaw, Jean and Bob Caldwell of Bedford.

Mr. McCormick died May 28 at his residence. He was born Nov. 27, 1952, in Minneapolis, Minn.
He was a resident of Rusk for two months and formerly lived in southern California. He was a member of Christ the Redeemer Church in Rusk.
He was a Microsoft engineer. He was very active in church work and evangelism.

Mrs. Williams died May 25. She was born Jan. 5, 1946, in Palestine. She graduated from Fred Douglas High School and attended TJC nursing school. She was a member of the Greater New Zion Baptist Church, an LVN and was employed with East Texas Medical Center Hospital for several years.
Preceding her in death were her mother, grandparents, one sister and one brother.

ELIZABETH "LIZ" CURL SADLER
Funeral for Elizabeth (Liz) Curl Sadler of Jacksonville was at 2

Landrum, the Rev. Dr. Tony Cleaver and the Rev. Kevin King officiating.
Burial was in Jacksonville City Cemetery.
She and her late husband, Monk Sadler owned and operated Sadler's Restaurant for 36 years. Mrs. Sadler was an avid golfer, played duplicate bridge and enjoyed many years singing in the chancel choir at First United Methodist Church where she was a member.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Elton F. (Monk) Sadler; grandson, Keith Loftin; and great-grandson, Michael Trotter.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law; Robert and Sheila Sadler, daughters and sons-in-law; Jan and Doug Gowin, Gerry and Connie Stovall and Susan Sadler May, seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and special caregivers, Shirley Davis, Ruby Hinton, Imogene Adams and Brenda Starling.
Pallbearers were Robert J. Gowin, Kenneth Loftin, Brian D. Gowin, Ryan Sadler, Toby Gowin, Kirk Sadler, Tony Harrison and Lindy Nichols.
KENNETH RAY OAKLEY
Graveside service for Kenneth Ray Oakley, 76, of Jacksonville, will
be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 7, at Meador Cemetery under the direction
of Thompson Funeral Home.
Mr. Oakley died June 2. He was born Feb. 1, 1931, in Fannin County. He was a tire salesman and served in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Buress and Ida Rose Harris Oakley and a brother, James Calvin Oakley.
Survivors are his wife, Jeannie Oakley of Jacksonville; two step-sons and a step-daughter in law, Marvin Jr. and Cathy George of Jacksonville and Tony Lynn Alverson of Richmond, Va.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Susan Kay and Oscar Sr. Martinez of Laredo, Sarah Redford of Jacksonville Carla and Mac McNertney of Frankston and Marsha Jones of Jacksonville; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Nancy Oakley of Fort Worth; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.
DOROTHY JEAN KENNEDY ACKER

Ms. Acker died June 3. She was born Dec. 4, 1929, in Mount Vernon and spent her early childhood years in Winfield. Her family later moved to Dialville where she attended high school. She married John (Mike) Acker, also of Dialville, March 22, 1947. She and her family moved to Dallas in 1964. In 1967 she began here career in the savings and loan industry. When she retired in 1987 she served as assistant vice-president of First Garland Savings. During her 20 year career she was a member of many professional organizations including the Garland Chamber of Commerce, Garland Federation of Women's Clubs, and Soroptimist International of Garland, where she served as president in 1982-1983. She also served as a director for the North Texas Savings and Loan Institute of financial education for three years.
Survivors are her husband of 60 years, John (Mike) Acker; her brother and sister in-law, A.J. and Barney Kennedy of Jacksonville; her children, Rodney and Judy Acker and Susan Nash, all of Dallas; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of personal choice.
GLORIA HALE WALDING
Funeral for Gloria Hale Walding, 69, of Jacksonville will be at 2

Mrs. Walding died June 4. She was born Nov. 24, 1937, in Jacksonville. She was a retired seamstress and a Pentecostal. Preceding her in death were her husband, Jack Walding; and a daughter, Sheila McFarland. Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Tenna Walding of Jacksonville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Bonnie Scoggins of Athens and Donna and Guy Tadlock of Eustace; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glen Hale of Whitehouse and David Hale of Rusk; a sister, Virginia Hammons of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Randy Faulk, Jay Jones, Dalton Walding, Aaron Loden, Michael Tadlock, Bryan Tadlock and Guy Tadlock. Honorary pallbearers were Glen Hale and David Hale.
RUBY TEMPLE CARIKER
Graveside service for Ruby Temple Cariker, 103, of Jacksonville, was at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Autry Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cariker died June 3. She was born in Earle's Chapel Oct. 2, 1903, to Robert F. and Leavie Temple. She married J.R. Cariker Dec. 4, 1920. She worked at Marja Manufacturing Co., taught Bible classes at the Corinth Road Church of Christ in Jacksonville. She was a member of the Bullard Church of Christ. Preceding her in death were her husband of 71 years, J.R. Cariker; daughter, Jean Taylor and great-grandson, Brandon Barker.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Paul Haws of Jacksonville; and four grandchildren and spouses, Janice and Michael Barker of Pasadena, Calif., Rebecca and Byron Hodges of Houston, Heber Taylor III of Galveston and Jeff Taylor of Searcy, Ark.; a great-granddaughter, Gracie Barker, of Pasadena, Calif. and her son-in-law, Heber Taylor II of Searcy, Ark.

HOMER DOUGLAS HIGGINS
Funeral for Homer Douglas Higgins, 73, was at 2 p.m. Sunday at Autry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Calvin Gould officiating. Burial was in Jarratt Cemetery.
Mr. Higgins died June 7. He was born in Taladega, Ala. March 26, 1934, to Revy and Flora Higgins.
He retired from TXU as a foreman in 1996 after 30 years. He served in the Army and was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his first wife; Jo Ann Higgins, six brothers and sisters.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Lynn Higgins; two sons and daughter-in-law, Tony and Donna Tucker of Jacksonville and Don Littlejohn of Rusk; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sheila and Joseph Gauldin, Reba Gail and Doug Wright, Eastabuga, Ala. and Donna Littlejohn of Rusk; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Reva Higgins, Billy Higgins, Glenn Higgins of Alabama, A.B. Higgins of Lake Palestine, Harold Higgins of Greenville and Cecil Higgins of Whitehouse; a sister, Helen Parker of Alabama; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Gerald Clayton.

HENRY (SONNY) CANNON
Funeral for Henry (Sonny) Cannon, 79, of DeSota, formerly of Rusk was at 1 p.m. Saturday at the New Generation Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Hall, Elder Winston Cannon, the Rev. Clifton Reagan and the Rev. H.C. Whitaker officiating. Burial was in Rock Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Home.
Mr. Cannon died June 1. He was born Sept. 10, 1927, in Cherokee County. He attended New Summerfield schools, was a former member of the Rock Hill Presbyterian Church and currently a member of the New Generation Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers; two sisters; and three grandchildren.
Survivors are his wife, Gloria Faye Cannon of DeSota; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Brenda Cannon and Elder Winston and Beverly Cannon, all of DeSota; two daughters and sons-inlaw, Devon and Pastor Robert Price-Hall and Kabrena and Terrence Cannon, all of DeSota; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Rashard Criner, Sherman Johnson, Anthony Price, Terry Reise, Murvin Stafford and Clarence Watts. ODIE LEE BOUNDS
Funeral for Odie Lee Bounds, 95, of Tacoma, Wash. was at 11 a.m. Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Leon Ross and the Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial was in Jarratt Cemetery.
Mrs. Bounds died June 5. She was born Dec. 14, 1911, near Lufkin. She was a retired Texas teacher with 47 years of teaching experience. She lived in Jacksonville from 1977-2005. She was a member of the Craft Missionary Baptist Church, a Girls' Missionary Auxiliary counselor for 40 years and a Sunday school teacher for at least 70 years. A member of the AAUW, Mrs. Bounds received a BA from Stephen F. Austin University and a MS from Texas State University at San Marcos. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 60 years.
Preceding her in death were her husband, George E. Bounds; her parents, Mary Helen and Charlie Greenwood Price.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Mike Holcombe of Tacoma; four grandchildren, Jacna AlMallah of Irbid, Jordan, Mark Holcombe of Texarkana, Ark., Lee Margaret Winkler and George Holcombe, both of Tacoma; great-grandchildren, Sarah Helen and Beth AlMallah and Michael Renee and Emily Rose Holcombe; and four nephews.
AZELLE SHAVER
Funeral for Azelle Shaver, 85, of Jacksonville, was at 10

officiating. Burial was in Rose Lawn Park, Palestine. Mrs. Shaver died
June 6. She was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Spring Dell. She was a member of
the Sunset Baptist Church, the Red Hats Society and the Veterans of
Foreign Wars. Preceding her in death were her husband of 55 years, L.B.
(George) Shaver; her parents, Eli and Addie Feutral; five brothers, Sam,
Ross, J.D. Earl and Jim Feutral. Survivors are a son, Mike Shaver of
Elkhart; two daughters, Pat Cooper of Delon and Dinia Chambless of
Jacksonville; seven grandchildren, Misty Dudley, Justin Chambless, Ed
Fails, Keith Fails, Jason Fails, Justin Shaver and Jennifer Ballew; 18
great-grandchildren; four sisters, her twin, Jerry Burt and Mary
Williams, Grace Griffin and Murle Stuckey.
Grandsons were pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Stevens, Benny Williams, Tra Dudley and Zack Tonroy.
DON C. PLEDGER
Don C. Pledger, 60, of Rusk son of Leon and Ethel Pledger,
died June 3. He was the last of the Pledger line. He left no survivors.
He was credited with living life on his own terms and experienced many adventures. He could be found anywhere from scuba diving off the island of Roatan to riding his motorcycle on a winding road. However, it is said he never forgot his roots. He returned to Rusk to care for his mother during her twilight years and never left again.
He requested no formal service or memorial and asked to be remembered with smiles and laughter.
KARI G. ISAAC
Funeral for Kari G. Isaac, 59, of Frankston, formerly of Tyler was at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Isaac died June 9. She was born March 11, 1948, in Portland, Ore. She was a psychiatric nurse practitioner at the Andrews Center in Tyler and Athens. She was a captain in the Texas State Guard Medical Brigade (MRC) part of the Tyler Medical Response Group.
Survivors are her husband, Frank Isaac of Frankston; two sons and daughters-in-law, E-9 R.C. and Kerry Payne of California and E-6 John F. and Serena Payne of Iraq; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Carol Wehrheim of San Antonio; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Art Wilkirson of Tyler; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; special niece, Leslie of Holy Angels Residence in Shreveport; and other nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Tyler Medical Response Group.
