EVA MARIE CHILDRESS
Funeral for Eva Marie Childress, 90, of Houston, formerly of Alto, was
at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, in the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home chapel
with the Rev. Mike Hogg officiating. Burial was in Old Palestine
Cemetery Mrs. Childress died Dec. 20. She was born Nov. 25, 1917, in
Alto to Durwood and Amanda Wallace Barron. She was reared in Alto and
lived in Houston for 47 years.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Second Baptist Church in Pearland.
Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Max Milstead of Alvin and Janice and Kyle Simms of Pearland; a sister, Velma Bouttotte of Alto; six grandchildren, Carl Childress Jr., Denise Taylor, Krystal Milstead, Kevin Milstead, Harley Simms and Kathy Childress; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were sons-in-law and grandsons, Butch, Joe, Kyle, Harley, Kevin and Max.
REV. W.F. SIDES
Funeral for the Rev. W.F. Sides was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at Autry
Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
The Rev. Sides died Dec. 20, 2007. He was born April 24, 1934, in Oakland to Houston Emery and Thena Jones Sides. He attended school in Oakland from 1940-1944 and Maydelle School from 1945-1953. He attended college at South Texas Jr. College 1959-1960, University of Houston 1970 and South Texas Bible School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. Oct. 20, 1953, and was discharged Oct. 19, 1956. He married Helen Jenkins on April 10, 1955. He entered the ministry on Sept. 11, 1963, and served as pastor of Victory Baptist 1965-1969 at New Caney; Calvary Baptist 1974-1978; Graceland Baptist 1979-1993; Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist 1993-2005; and was a supervisor for Houston Lighting and Power from Dec. 3, 1956 - April 1, 1992.
He was preceded in death by parents, Houston E. and Thena L. Sides; two brothers E.J. and T.H. Sides; and two sisters, Susie Sides Roberts and Martha Sides Forman.
Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Helen Sides; two daughters, Susan Cottrell and Lisa Sides; two grandchildren, Shannon Uptmor and Cinnamon Uptmor; and two sisters, Mildred Munsinger and Faye Wesson.
Pallbearers were James W. Sides, Jessie Traylor, Don Lusk, Albert Munsinger, David Lusk, Frank Lusk, Robert Shultz and Linwood McGaughey.
Honorary Pallbearers were deacons of University Baptist Church and deacons of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
MAE CONN
Funeral for Mae Conn, 83, of Brookeland, was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec.
22, at the Brookeland Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in
Brookeland Cemetery. Mrs. Conn was the mother of William (Bill) Bradley
of Rusk.
Mrs. Conn died Wednesday, Dec. 19. She was a native of Navasota, Grimes County. She had lived in Brookeland for the past 40 years. She was a member of the DAVA of Jasper, Pine Tuckey education extension service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Elton Conn; a daughter, Jeannette Conn; and two grandchildren, Jill and Keith Bradley.
Survivors are three sons and daughters-in-law, William (Bill) and Jan Bradley of Rusk, John F. and Anne Bradley of Good Springs, Ala. and David and Gloria Conn of Kirbyville; two daughters and son-in-law, Laura and Danny Olsen of The Woodlands and Margie A. Letney of Brookeland; a sister, Elizabeth Weaver of Austin; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Arrangements were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
FLORENCE V. (CRICKET) KELLEY
A private graveside service was held for Florence (Cricket) Kelley, 83,
of Jacksonville. Ms. Kelley died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007. She was born
March 4, 1924, in Dialville, to John Avery Fitts and Ada Jane Bryant.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: a son, John Jay Lynch of Trinity; two daughters, Paula Massey of Jacksonville and Jan Chandler of Gallatin; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers; four sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials maybe made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N Michigan, Floor 17, Chicago, Ill. 60601.

JACK HIX TENCH
Funeral for Jack Hix Tench, 70, of Reklaw, was at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec.
28, 2007, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel with Father Mark Kusmirek
officiating. Burial was in Walkers Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Tench died Dec. 25, 2007, in Reklaw. He was born Aug. 2, 1937, in Aliquippa, Pa. to Walter Baxter Tench and Willie Faulkner Tench. He joined the Air Force in 1954 and was discharged in 1962. He married Dorothy Lee Pavalock July 14, 1956. He worked for General Electric in Houston for 28 years. He retired at the age of 48 and moved to Reklaw. He attended Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Preceding him in death was a grandson, Cory V. Lundsford. Survivors are his wife Dorothy Lee Pavalock Tench; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqualine Ann and Terry Lunsford and June Marie and Lynn Rader; grandchildren, Mandy Lee and Calvin Carpenter and Kimber Lynn Lunsford; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Flossie Tench Harris, Dora and Oliver Trotter, Ruby and William Brown and Linda and Telford Tanksley, all of Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Terry Lunsford, William Brown, Calvin Carpenter and Lynn Rader.

JOHN MARTIN
Graveside service for John Martin, 62, of Rusk, will be at 11 a.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Resthaven Cemetery in Jacksonville with the Rev.
Don Copeland and Bishop Gary Murray officiating. Mr. Martin died Dec.
28, 2007.
He was born Nov. 19, 1945, in Phoenix, Ariz., to John Callaway and Mary Ava Riddle Martin. Mr. Martin was a resident of Rusk 27 years, formerly of Houston. He retired from Texas Department of Criminal Justice on the Hodge Unit. He owned and operated J.A. Martin Construction in Rusk for 25 years. Mr. Martin was also a substitute postal carrier in Rusk for several years.
Preceded him in death were his father, John C. Martin; brother, Jay Sadler; and daughter, April L. Martin Nunley.
Survivors are his wife of 34 years, Wanda Martin of Rusk; mother, Mary Sadler of Jacksonville; son and daughter-in law, Aaron and Maggie Martin of Rusk; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tonya Perkins and John Smoot of Temple and Amanda and Sammy Hernandez of Rusk; eight grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Martin, John Smoot, Lee Baker, Sammy Hernandez, Larry Butcher, Phil Kosted, David Evans, Edward Reid and Shawn Martin. Honorary pallbearer will be Tim Reed.

Graveside service for Aaron Yarbrough, 21, of Alto was at 2 p.m. Friday,
Dec. 28, 2007, at Old Palestine Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Maddox

Mr. Yarbrough died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, in Lufkin. He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Lufkin.
Survivors include his parents Dennis and Linda Yarbrough of Alto. Autry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

William F. (Bill) Quinn
Graveside service for retired Texas Ranger William F. (Bill) Quinn, 83, of Rusk was at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Gunter officiating.
Mr. Quinn died December 31, 2007. He was born Nov. 17, 1924, in Trinidad, TX to Carey W. and Mattie Pearl Fuqua Quinn. He was a resident of Rusk for 28 years and was a member of Church On The Rock in Rusk. He graduated from Trinidad High School in 1942 and he attended two years of college at LeTourneau College in Longview. Mr. Quinn became a Texas Highway Patrolman Aug. 1, 1948, and a Texas Ranger in Navasota in 1970. He retired as a Texas Ranger in 1988. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Zelma Quinn of Rusk; three daughters, Rhonda Morrow of Niagra Falls, N.Y., Neweta Rash of Childress, and Vicki Stubblefield of Austin; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
If desired, memorials may be made to Cal Farley Boys Ranch or charity of choice.

JOHN EARL WIGGINS
Funeral for John Earl Wiggins, 44, of Jacksonville, was at 10 a.m.
Thursday, Jan. 3 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Whitt
and the Rev. C.L. Taylor presiding. Burial was in Earle's Chapel
Cemetery.
Mr. Wiggins died Dec. 29, 2007. He was born Feb. 2, 1963, in Jacksonville to Dickey and Linda Wiggins. He was a lineman for Cherokee County Coop for 18 years and a truck driver.
Preceding him in death were his father, Dickey Wiggins; uncle, David Wiggins; grandparents, Clifford and Bess Wiggins and Roy and Laura Hammontree.
Survivors are his wife, Debbie Wiggins of Jacksonville; daughter, Holly Wiggins of College Station; son, Russell Wiggins of Jacksonville; mother, Linda Wiggins of Jacksonville; sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Paul Laney of Jacksonville and special person, Bryan; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Russell Wiggins, Josh Laney, Paul Laney, Russ Robertson, Michael Wayne Birdwell, Chris Loftin and David Langham. Honorary pallbearers were employees of Cherokee County Electric Coop.
LULA FAYE MALLARD WARMSLEY
Funeral for Lula Faye Mallard Warmsley, 64, of Jacksonville, was at 1
p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at the Woodville CME Church with the Rev. Phal
Carter, Rev. Joe Radford, Rev. K.B. Clater and the Rev. Vandell Smith
officiating. Burial was in Woodville Cemetery.
Mrs. Warmsley died Dec. 27. She was born Dec. 18, 1942, in Rusk.
She attended Fred Douglass and graduated from G.W. Bradford High School She received her bachelor of arts and science degree in business and masters degree from the University of Texas at Tyler. She was a lifelong Cherokee County resident.
She was a member of the Woodville CME Church and later united with Rising Star Baptist Church. She was employed with PSI Inc. in Tyler. She was a member of the board of directors of the regional and state associations of Texas Head Start, where she served as president, board of directors for goals for Jacksonville, member of Cherokee County Interagency Council, member of the Cherokee Health Advisory Board and member of the Black Citizens for Positive Change. She had membership in Who's Who Registry limited to persons who have demonstrated leadership and achievement in the occupations.
Survivors are her husband, Eugene Warmsley of Shreveport, La.; her mother, Vesta Richards of Jacksonville; a step-son, Bernard Warmsley of San Bernadina, Calif.; a step-daughter, Tenesha Warmsley of Shreveport; special friend, Vernice Johnson of Jacksonville and several aunts and cousins.
Pallbearers were Melvin Session, Walter Session, John D. Griffith, Joe Teague, Aaron Howard and Dee Session.

ROBERT (BOBBY) LOVELADY
Graveside service for Robert (Bobby ) Lovelady, 72, of Rusk was at 1
p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Camp Ruby Cemetery in Indian Springs with the
Rev. Barry Jeffires officiating.
Mr. Lovelady died Monday, December 31, 2007. He was a Baptist, and attended Central Baptist Church in Livingston. He worked for a Janitorial Service.
Preceding him in death was a son Robert Lovelady.
Survivors are a son, James Lovelady of Houston; four grandchildren, James Donovan Lovelady Jr., Kevin Wayne Lovelady, Misty Lovelady and Michelle Lovelady; three brothers, Perry Lovelady of Lake Tawakoni, Henry Lovelady of Jacksonville and Sam Lovelady of Kilgore; and two sisters, Patsy Golightly of Henderson and Mary Joyce Small, of Kilgore.

Freeland
Memorial service for Edward B. Freeland, 69, of Houston, was at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, in the Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church chapel with the Rev. Vicky Jones officiating.
Mr. Freeland died Dec. 27, 2007.
He was born Jan. 8, 1938, in Freeport to the Rev. Jesse H. and Ruth M. Freeland.
Survivors are his stepdaughter and her husband, Renee and Kenneth Crenshaw; grandson, Travis; granddaughter, Tricia, of Kilgore; stepdaughter, Debra Freeland and granddaughter, Casey Turner; granddaughter and husband, Ginger and Lee Sims and great-granddaughter, McKalee of Elkton, Ky.; son and his wife, Steve and Sung Freeland of Jersey City, N.J.; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth and Jim Holcomb; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bill Freeland and David and Lavonia Freeland, all of Houston; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral for Royal Edward Stewart, 71, of New Summerfield was at 1 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 30, at Grace Temple Church of God in Christ in Troup with
Elder Samuel W. Jones, the Rev. Robert Davis and the Rev. Billy Tribble
officiating. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery, New Summerfield.
Mr. Stewart died Dec. 26, 2007.
He was born Jan. 14, 1936, in New Summerfield. He attended Pine Hill school and was a member of the Grace Temple Church of God in Christ, where he served as Sunday school superintendent, member of the choir and a deacon. He was a retired logger.
Survivors are his wife, Kathryn Stewart of New Summerfield; three sons and daughters in-law, Donny and Cheryl Stewart of Jacksonville, Todd and Cynthia Stewart of Sacramento, Calif. and Michael and Sarah Stewart of London, England; five daughters and one son-in-law, Tonya and Keith Hayter of Tyler, Cynthia Lee of Portland, Ore., Latrina Williams and Sharon Fletcher, both of Houston and Ann Story of Tyler.

JACK DUBLIN (PAPA) EARLE
Memorial service for Jack Dublin (Papa) Earle, 74, of Nashville, Tenn.
was at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan, 4 at Earle's Chapel Methodist Church with
Dale Jamerson presiding. Burial was in Earle's Chapel Cemetery. Mr.
Earle died Dec., 27. He was born on Dec. 23, 1933, in Jacksonville. He
attended Jacksonville High School where he excelled in sports and music.
After graduation he attended Texas A & M University and Sam Houston
University.
He retired after 35 years of working for the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller and data systems specialist. He was active in the development of the FAA Conflict Alert System.
Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Barbara Thomas Earle of Ashland City, Tenn.; children, Steve and Allison Earle of Nashville, Tenn., Mark and Kathleen Earle of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kelly and Ron Meers, Carver, of Mass., Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart of Ashland City and Pat and Rita Earle of Joelton, Tenn.; grandchildren, Justin Earle, Ian Earle Molly Earle, Emily Earle, Mary Earle, Ashley Meers, Scott and Stephanie Deluke, Christopher and Lisa Mims, Kyle Mims, Jackson Earle; and one great-grandchild, Nicholas Ritchie; brother and sister-in-law, Neil and Selena Earle of Jacksonville and a sister-in-law, Barbara Earle of Jacksonville.
CHARLES M. (CHUCK) CLEMENTS
Funeral for Charles M. (Chuck) Clements, 52, of Blue Springs, Mo. was at
2 p.m. Saturday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel with burial following in
Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence, Mo.
Local relatives include a brother, sister-in-law and niece, Keith and Linda Clements and Charlotte of Rusk.
Mr. Clements died unexpected Monday, Dec. 31, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Blue Ridge. He was born June 12, 1955, in Independence to John and Bettie Adcock Clements. He was a lifelong Independence area resident, graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1973. He worked in the forklift industry for more than 30 years, most recently for Oram Material Handling in Kansas City, Kan. He enjoyed NASCAR, boating, golf and family. He married Roxann (Evon) Heitman Aug. 14, 1976. Preceding him in death was his father, John S. (Jack) Clements on Oct. 26, 2007.
Survivors are his wife, Roxann Evon Heitman Clements of Blue Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jamie and Joe Wimberly of Mayview, Mo. and Christi and Brett Burge of Blue Springs, Mo.; his mother, Bettie Clements of Independence; two brothers, John Clements of Independence and Keith Clements of Rusk; two sisters, Nancy Clements of Independence and Connie Holt of Lee's Summit, Mo.; three grandchildren, Jakob, Jakson and Josie Wimberly; his mother and father-in-law, Lester and Shirley Heitman of Independence, Mo. RAYMOND MARTIN KELLERMAN JR.
Funeral for Raymond Martin Kellerman Jr., 48, of Cushing, was at 1 p.m.
Sunday at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Gerral
Faulkner officiating. Burial was in Sacul Cemetery.
Mr. Kellerman died Thursday. He was born April 18, 1959, in Houston to Raymond M. Sr. and Carrie Whitehead Kellerman. He lived in many places around the world while served in the U.S. Army. He retired after 18 years of service and moved to Cushing, where he lived his remaining months.
Survivors are his father, Raymond Martin Kellerman Sr. of Rusk; his mother and step-father, Carrie and Terry Schoppe of Cushing; two sons, Raymond Martin Kellerman III and Robert David Kellerman, both of Nacogdoches; a brother, David Paul Kellerman of Savannah, Ga.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jo and James Billingsley of Comfort and Karla and Randy Brooks of Jacksonville.
Friends and family served as pallbearers.
HELEN JANE PEARMAN JONES
Funeral for Helen Jane Pearman Jones, 82, of Tulsa, Okla. was at 3 p.m.
Saturday at the Tulsa First Baptist Church chapel with the Rev. Deron
Spoo officiating. Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Cathedral of
the Pines Cemetery in Tyler.
Mrs. Jones was born July 19, 1925, in Alto to J.H. Pearman Sr. and Kate Lyles Pearman. She and her husband, Frank, were active members of the Tulsa First Baptist Church and directors of the Disciples Sunday school class. She was active in neighborhood and charitable activities.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, J.H. (Sonny) Pearman Jr.
Survivors are her husband of 63 years, Frank Jones; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Pam Jones of Tyler; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Bob Elms of Tulsa; grandchildren, Camden Jones and wife Amanda, Megan Jones and Kathryn Jane Elms; nephews, Bob Pearman and J.D. Pearman of Alto. Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
HERBERT A. TAYLOR
Funeral services for Herbert A. (Hub) Taylor, 82, of Rusk will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, in Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Mr. Taylor died Jan. 6. He was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Rusk to W.H. and Lula Johnson Taylor. He was a lifelong Rusk resident. He was a pipeline worker and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his wife Agnes Taylor and a son, Tony Taylor.
Survivors are a son, Mike Taylor of Huntsville; a brother, Samuel Taylor of Lubbock; a sister, Orene Lloyd of Rusk; grandsons, Britt Taylor of Las Vegas, Nev. Nathan Taylor of Rusk, Zack Taylor of Tyler, John Stafford of Longview and Timothy Taylor of Germany; two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were David Westbrook, Edwin Ballew, Mike Walley, Jimmy Walley, Zack Taylor and Russell Miles.

CARROLL BETTIS
Funeral for Carroll Bettis, 76,was held at 2 p.m. Jan. 5 at theAutry
Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Dr. Pete Freeman and the Rev. Steve
Edwards officiated. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Bettis died Thursday, Jan. 3. He was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Donaldson, Ark. to Marvin and Oneda Haltom Bettis. He served as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. He was a member and deacon at Central Baptist Church and a Gideon. He managed Bek's Restaurants in Dallas for approximately 40 years.
Mr. Bettis was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Louis Bettis.
Survivors are his wife, Joy Bettis of Jacksonville; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Becky Bettis of Brownsboro and a sister, Audrey Stow of Arkadelphia, Ark.; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews include the youngest great-great-nephew, Mikal Whitten.
Pallbearers were Ed Snider, Russell LeBlanc, Ronny Lee, Jeff Horton, Micheal Whitten, John Bettis, Frank Goodson and Wyndel Cummins. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Central Baptist, Gideons and Ralph George, Bill Lovelady and Chris Lindsey.
THELMA NEAL SMITH
Graveside service for Thelma Neal Smith, 89, of Rusk will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Don Copeland officiating.
Mrs. Smith died Jan. 6. She was born August 14, 1918, in Maydelle to Louis and Lottie Neal.
Mrs. Smith lived in Rusk most of her life. She retired from Rusk State Hospital in 1982 after 21 years of service. She lived in Tyler for the past six years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rusk.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 42 years Elbert Smith; daughter-in-law, Paula Smith; and sister Opal Allen.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. and Mary Smith of Bullard; granddaughter, Stacy Smith of Magnolia; step-grandson, Kent Peters of Rusk; sister, Maxine Scott of Tyler; great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral for Dr. Alfred Price Bolch, 86, of Rusk, was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home chapel in Alba, with the Rev. Scott Johnson officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Alba.
Dr. Bolch died Jan. 5. He was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Port Arthur, to William and Nina Thane Bolch. He had lived in Rusk since 1985 moving there from Atlanta. He married Lou Ann McKenzie Bolch December 24, 1964, in Houston. He was a medical doctor with a specialty in psychiatry and retired after working 10 years at Rusk State Hospital.
He was a captain in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 42 years, Lou Ann Bolch, on Aug. 21, 2007; son, David Bolch; daughter, Susan Andress; four sisters, Inez Terrell, Mona Berthlot, Clara Brite and Norma Parish; and one brother, Billy Ray Bolch.
Survivors include six daughters, Charlotte Bolch of Henderson, Charisse Bolch of Bullard, Gaye McGinn and husband, Larry, of Henderson, Martha Lutich, Celia Tyler, and Mary Chacon, all of San Antonio; three sons, William A. Bolch of Laredo, Alfred P. Bolch, Jr. and Paul D. Bolch, both of San Antonio; numerous grandchildren including Brandi, Daniel, and Hailey Hubacek.
Pallbearers were Daniel Hubacek, Todd Sligar, Kelly Burns, C.J. Sligar, Brett Sligar, Garet Sligar, and Larry McGinn.

Graveside service for Nina Goff, 92, of Rusk, was at 10 a.m. Wednesday,

Mrs. Goff died Jan. 7. She was born Dec. 5, 1915, in the Jones Chapel community near Alto to William Garrett and Eleanor Adline Hill Musick. She lived most of her life in Rusk and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 57 years, Jewel Garland Goff; a daughter, Shirlene Brimble; and four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral for Eula Ray Sanders Rodrigues, 77, of Mount Enterprise, will be

Mrs. Rodrigues died Jan. 12. She was born in Rusk County, Sept. 20, 1930, to the late Ray and Eula Trawick Sanders. Mrs. Rodrigues was a lifetime resident of Mount Enterprise and Nacogdoches.
Mrs. Rodrigues is preceded in death by her husband, Mervel Rodrigues; her parents; a daughter, Glynda Ray Mc- Carty and grandson, Steven C. Lane.
Survivors are three daughters, Helyn Ann Rodrigues, of Nacogdoches, Linda Kay Rodrigues,of Longview and Janice Marie Lane of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Shannon Stanley of Rusk, Kane Edward McCarty of Rusk and Joseph Daniel Lane and wife Beth of Mt. Memorial service for John Elton Reasonover, 61, of Reno, Nev., will be
at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18 at the A. Frank Smith United Methodist Church

Reno, where he had lived for the past few years. He was born Nov. 24,
1946, grew up in Rusk and graduated from Rusk High School in 1960.
He was an accountant for Sears and Armco Steel in Houston. He also worked in construction, the oilfields and landscaping. He was retired.
Preceding him in death was his father, James Comer Reasonover.

Graveside service for Lois Lee Norwood Osborne, 90, of Rusk was at 11

officiating. Mrs. Osborne died Jan. 13. She was born June 13, 1917, in
Alto to Grover Cleveland (G.C.) and Emma Gertrude Petty Norwood. She was
a lifelong Rusk resident, a homemaker and a member of the First United
Methodist Church. She was valedictorian of her high school class in
Alto.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Herbert Osborne Jr., and son, Paul Martin Osborne. Survivors are two nieces Cheryl Thomas Black and Marsha Thomas Smith of Alto; two nephews, Grover Carol (G.C.) Norwood of Texas, and Steven Norwood of North Carolina. Gunter officiating. Mr. Harris died Jan. 12. He was born Jan. 23, 1932 ,
in Waterloo, N. Y. to Charles Pierre and Mary Harris. He was a Rusk
resident 30 years, and an Episcopalian. He retired as a Class A PGA Golf
Professional. He was a construction superintendent and a Cushing
baseball coach. He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II.
Preceding him in death were two brothers. Survivors are a son and
daughter-in-law, Tim and Vera Harris of Columbia, S.C.; a daughter, Kim
Lloyd of Rusk; one brother; two sisters; five grandchildren; four great

Funeral for Thelma Higgs Ray, 96, of Stone Mountain, Ga., formerly of Beaumont, was at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Wallace- Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Caldwell officiating Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Ray was born Nov. 11, 1911. She died Jan. 11. She was noted for her tall tales, family history and original ghost stories. Preceding her in death were her parents, Ira H. and Siddie Elizabeth Higgs; her husband, J. Carrol Ray Sr.; her son, John Carroll Ray Jr. ; and her nine siblings, Ira Higgs, Daisy Bodin, Homer Higgs, Jewel Higgs, Blanche Murray, Carrie Bryan, Guy Mitchell, Mary Waters and Hazel Heard.

Knight; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Reagan and Susie Pryor

HERBERT HUDSON
Funeral for Herbert Hudson, 93, of Cushing, formerly of Rusk, will be at
1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, in Wallace Thompson Funeral Home chapel with
the Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Burial will be in McKnight Cemetery.
Mr. Hudson died Jan. 13. He was born Dec. 23, 1914, in Meridian, Miss. to Walter and Delia Rose McClendon Hudson. He was employed by the City of Rusk in maintenance. He retired after 29 years of service. Mr. Hudson worked for Nichols Pistol Factory in Jacksonville for four years as an assistant supervisor. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Preceding him in death were his father and mother, Walter and Delia Hudson; wife, Ethel Faye Bass Hudson; two sisters, Minnie Kolaginczak and Betty June Fields.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Jack and Dorothy Hudson of Bullard, David and Kiki Hudson of Gladewater; daughter and son in law, Joyce Marie and Danny Willis of Cushing; one brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Dorothy Hudson of Cleveland; one sister Lily Jinkens of Houston; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral for Dee Waggoner, Rusk native, was at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel
AME Church in Dallas and 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant CME Church
in Rusk. Burial was in Holly Springs Cemetery, Maydelle.
Mr. Waggoner's educational career spanned 44 years, most of which was with the Abilene ISD. He is remembered for his positive impact on a multitude of students, parents and staff.
Survivors are his wife, Bonnie Waggoner; two daughters, Regina Jones and Sharondee Waggoner; three grandchildren, Tommy Jones III, Tiffany Jones and Sean Cooper; one sister, Verline Johnson; and two brothers, John Waggoner and Hubert Waggoner.

Funeral for J.B. Ward, 71, of Rusk was at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mount
Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Mertis Bartley officiating. Burial
was in Rusk Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Ward died Jan. 11. He was born Feb. 4, 1937, in Sacul. He attended George W. Bradford High School and was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Survivors are two brothers and a sister-in-law, Hubard Ward of Lufkin and Frazier and Carolyn Foreman of Dallas; four sisters and two brothersin law, Lola B. and Adam Mallard, Mary Foreman, Charlsie Session and Ann and Jerry Leviston, all of Rusk; and an aunt Dorothy Jackson of Rusk.
Pallbearers were Melvin Session II, Dr. Wesley Foreman, Jeremy Bolton, Emile Tony, Akeem Leviston and Melvin W. Foreman. Honorary pallbearers were Lonnie R. Gipson, John Richard Cook, Sam O'Neil, Mike Cook and Jessie Simmons.

JAMES C. MCGAUGHEY
Graveside service for James Calvin (Jimmy) McGaughey, 61, of Alto was at
2 p.m. Sunday at Alto City Cemetery with the Rev. Andy Goasett of Lufkin
officiating.
Mr. McGaughey died Jan. 16. He was born Oct. 9, 1946, in Jacksonville to H.B. and Ora Mae McGaughey. He was reared in Alto, where he graduated from Alto High School. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University obtaining both bachelor and masters degrees and playing on the Lumberjack baseball team. Following a tour in the U.S. Army he worked as a teacher and coach at Rains, Slocum, Maydelle and Rusk. He retired after 30 years in education.
He had been a member of the Alto First Baptist Church since 1956. He spent time in the hunting and fishing clubs of the Neches River bottom around Alto. He played baseball for the Sardis Cats of the Tri-County League.
Preceding him in death were his parents and younger brother, Gary McGaughey.
Survivors are his brother and sister-in-law, Dickey and Rena McGaughey of Emerald Bay; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Gay and Phil Hennage of Sand Springs, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Jeannie McGaughey of Diboll; a cousin, Jo Ann Williams, who was a constant caregiver and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other cousins.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Findley, Larry Findley, Dan Schochler, John Paul Dixon, Roger Taylor, Jim Wendeborn and Don Henley. Honorary pallbearers were Donald Wayne Carter, Eddie Click, Charles Dean Davis, Jessie Wallace and Zane Gholston.

DALTON WAYNE MAYES
Funeral for Dalton Wayne Mayes, 79, of Reklaw was at 2 p.m. Saturday at

Mr. Mayes died Jan. 16. He was born June 24, 1928, in San Augustine to Arthur and Edna Willis Mayes. He retired in 1989 from Fleetwood after 15 years as a CDL truck driver. He lived in Ft. Worth, Longview and Huntington before moving to Reklaw 24 years ago. He served as a corporal in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. He enlisted Jan. 22, 1946, in Houston and was discharged Jan. 21, 1949, in Fort Worth. He was a member of Reklaw Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Sudie Mayes of Reklaw; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Monty Cain of Fort Worth and Vickie and Bill Kasten of Grapevine; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Wayne and Betty Mayes of Keller; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Mary King of Las Vegas, Nev. and Joe and Bonita King of (Pace) Pensacola, Fla.; two stepdaughters and a step-son-in law, Jackie Burke of Longview and Julie and Jack Western of Aledo; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Helms died Jan. 18. He was born Dec. 15, 1923, in Cushman, Ark. He retired as an inspector for Gray Tool Co., was a member of New Life Worship Center in Tyler, and co-pastored at First Pentecostal Church of God in Jacksonville for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Helms; daughter, Wanda Redd; brothers, James, Genie and Verdell; and sisters, Mary Wilkerson and Marie Melton.
Survivors include his wife, Addie Helms of Jacksonville; a son, Walter Helms of Spring; two daughters, Dorothy Rollins and Linda Girault, both of Jacksonville; a stepdaughter, Kathy Rollins of Jacksonville; five stepsons, John Soley of Huffman, Phillip Soley of Spring, Steve Soley of Kingwood, Doug Soley of Jacksonville, and Gary Soley of Angleton; three brothers, Bishop R.C. She was born June 29, 1923, and was a retired secretary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Joynt. Survivors include two sons, Robert Joynt of Neosho, Mo., and Glen "(James) Joynt of Doylesburg, Pa.; a daughter, Kathrun Davis of Austin; a brother, John Risolvato of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mass for Elizabeth (Betty) House, 87, of Graham, mother of a Rusk

Cemetery.
Mrs. House died Jan. 18. She was born May 27, 1920, in Balta, N.D., to the late Michael and Mary Axtman Hoffart. She was a longtime resident of Graham and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Marion Hester House, on April 17, 2001. Survivors include sons, Mike House of Rusk, and Mark House of Graham; sister, Rose Brossart of Rugby, N.D.; two brothers, Joe Hoffart of Longmont, Colo., and Donald Hoffart of Devils Lake, N.D.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

CHARLENE KELLY SIMMONS
Graveside service for Charlene Kelly Simmons, 86, Oakwood, formerly of
Jacksonville, was at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Wells.
Mrs. Simmons died Jan. 19. She was born July 27, 1921, in Douglas to the late Luther and Alice Kelly. She retired from food service at Jacksonville ISD and was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Clay Morris Simmons on April 18, 2005, and a sister, Opal Anderson.
Survivors include three daughters, Marlene Williamson of Humble, Martha Sockwell of Jacksonville and Johnnie Brogdon of Buffalo; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; and two nieces.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Ellerbee, Nolan West, James Sockwell and Charles Brogdon.

Mr. Milton died Sunday, Jan. 20, in Jacksonville. He was born Dec. 28, 1985, in Rusk to Bernice Pope Milton and David Milton. He attended Alto High School and graduated in May 2004. He worked at Birmingham Healthcare Center part time and was presently unemployed. He joined Weeping Mary Baptist Church at a young age and participated in many church activities. He was preceded in death by several family members including his grandfather, Robert E. Lee Thacker and a special Uncle Clinton (Nick) Pope.
Survivors are his parents, David and Bernice Milton of Alto; grandmothers, Addie Helen Pope of Alto and Bobbie Polk of Huntsville; his grandfather, Sulvester (S.P.) Polk of Huntsville; five brothers, Emmanuel D. Milton and Kentavious L. KATHLEEN GOULD RAGSDALE
Graveside service for Kathleen Gould Ragsdale, 87, of Houston, formerly
of Jacksonville, was at 2 p.m. Sunday at Earle's Chapel Cemetery with
the Rev. Dr. Faulk Landrum officiating. Mrs. Ragsdale was born April 25,
1920, in Jacksonville to Richard Preston Gould and Lucille Trout Gould
and died Jan. 23.
She married John Norman Ragsdale July 14, 1937, soon after her May graduation from Jacksonville High School. She later attended Lon Morris College. Mrs. Ragsdale was a life member of First Christian Church. She was a descendant of two pioneer Jacksonville families. Her grandfather, J. E. Gould established the Gould Granite and Monument Co. in 1908. Her father, Dick Gould chiseled the lettering on the World War I Soldier Monument in Jacksonville City Park. Kathleen's grandfather, Professor James Vance Trout was a Jacksonville educator as early as 1898.
Survivors are two children: Kay Ragsdale Leddon of Cary, N.C. and John Wayne and Susie Ragsdale of Pearland; and six grandchildren: Connie Schrick and James of Scottsdale, Ariz., Richard Leddon and Jeanie of Boulder, Colo., Melissa Faulkner and Chip of Cary, N.C., Michael Ragsdale of Houston, James Ragsdale of Superior, Colo. and Jason Ragsdale of New York, N.Y.; five great-grandchildren, Alec and Jack Leddon, Ian and Jake Faulkner, and Allyson Ragsdale; a cousin, Robert Dale McArthur and wife, Janie Ballard McArthur of Columbia, Mo.; and other family and friends. MAURICE SOLLEY MILES
Maurice Solley Miles died Jan. 6. She was born May 25, 1923, in Cherokee County to W. D. and Sudie Mae Bevil Solley. She grew up in the Barsola community and graduated from Alto High School.
She worked in Lufkin for Southwestern Bell Telephone and for Dr. H. L. Hughey's dental office.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Mildred Morris; and a brother, Carl Solley.
Survivors are her husband of 62 years, William (Bill) Miles; a daughter and son; two sisters, Billie Berryman and Margie Bailey, both of Lufkin; five grandchildren; five nephews and three nieces and friends.
Services were at Gibson Funeral Home and burial was Jan. 12 in Arnold Cemetery at Barsola.

Funeral for David Mitchell, 42, of Rusk was at 2 p.m. Saturday at the
First Church On The Hill with Rev. Jan Pate and Mike Boney officiating.
Burial was in Russell Cemetery, FM 23, Rusk.
Mr. Mitchell died Jan. 23. He was born May 15, 1965, in Irving to William Clark and Marion Frances Smelley Mitchell. He was a resident of Rusk for 35 years and formerly resided in Lampasas. He was Christian. He was employed by Texas Department of Criminal Justice for eight years as a correctional officer. He was also employed at Houston County Sheriff's Office for three years. He was also an artist. His father, William Clark Mitchell, preceded him in death in 1990.
Survivors are his wife Julie Mitchell of Rusk; two daughters, Brittany Mitchell and Shelby Mitchell, both of Rusk; his mother, Fran Mitchell of Rusk; three brothers, Gary Mitchell of Jefferson and Scott Wilson and Cory Mitchell, both of Rusk; five sisters, LeeAnn McIntyre of Palestine, Gina West of Macon, Ga., Cherie Garza of Jal, N.M., Keli Abuhasheesh of Wylie and Connie Baker of Powell; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers were William Halstead, Scott Wilson, Charlie Rigsby, Terry Joe Phillips, Joe Bixler and Steve Robertson. CHARLES EDWARDS GILL
Graveside service for Charles Edwards Gill, 87, of New Summerfield was
at 2 p.m. Saturday at McDonald Cemetery, with the Rev. Hank Chandler
officiating. Mr. Gill died Jan. 24. He was born Aug. 13, 1920, the
fourth child of J. W. and Mertis Edwards Gill. He was a farmer and a
Methodist.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Marilyn Tipton Gill of New Summerfield; his son, Charles Lynn Gill of New Summerfield; granddaughter, Rachel Gill of Austin; grandson, Joshua Gill of Cincinnati, Ohio and great-grandson, Ian Whitfield of Austin. Pallbearers were Bill Poteet, Dick Sessions, Merle Duty, Gary Don Davis, Charlie Emerson and Tim Tipton. Honorary Pallbearers were Bill Tipton, Billy Powell, B.R. Darby, Don Darby, Junior Brown, William Waldrop, Bruce Ivy, Bobby D. Caveness and J.O. Martin. Arrangements were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home.
RABERTA PARIS
Funeral for Raberta Paris, 90, of Jacksonville, was at 10 a.m. Tuesday
at Autry Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Wofford Cemetery.
Mrs. Paris died Jan. 26. She was born June 16, 1917, in Anderson County to the late John Henry Parrott and Jessie Boyd Owens. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boone Paris. Survivors are a son, Danny Boone Paris of Galveston; two daughters, Wanda Robison of Jacksonville, and Charlotte Cossey of Galena Park; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers were deacons and members of the Mary Martha Sunday school class.
BONNIE N. WARNER
Funeral for Bonnie N. Warner of Wells was at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Falvey Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jamie Lea and the Rev. Joe Beren officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Miss Warner died Jan. 26. She was the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Carrye Warner. She graduated from Lufkin High School, received her bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State Teachers College and did post-graduate work at Columbia University in New York. She was a longtime teacher at Wells High School, and a member of Lufkin Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Nettie Warner.
Survivors include her sister, Norma W. Shamess; one niece; and one great-nephew.
Pallbearers were Ross Hicks, Blake Bailey, Kyle Hopper, Roy Joe Bailey, Don Byrd and C.W. Williams. Honorary pallbearers were John Sneed, Roy White, Larry Bailey and Pat Jordan.
