DR. CHARLES MEEKS MOORE

                     
	Born in White County Tennessee 14 Feb. 1866 to parents William Madison 
and Marion Moon Meeks, Charles was brought to Coryell County as a very young 
child following the Civil War, the family evidently settling around the 
Coryell City area of the county near a place at that time called Waldo,         , 
later moving into nearby McLennan Co. 
	Charles first studied the law and was for a time the City Attorny 
in Gatesville.  He later became interested in medicine, as had 3 brothers, 
and studied at Lewisville Medical College in Kentucky. his first medical 
practice began in Hurst Springs in Coryell County in 1894.He married Bertha 
Georgia Amelia Albertson, daughter of Elif Albertson, prominent merchant 
of Tyler, Smith Co. TX on 15 Nov. 1894. To this union were born children:
1. Elif Albertson Moore born 14-9-1895.
2. Fred William Moore born 11-10-1900.
3. Bruce Vivian Moore born 23-1-1903, died 14-10-1912.
	The young doctor's practice began at first on horseback, later by 
horse and buggy and finally by newly invented automobile. For a number of 
years his practice was in an office above the Corner Drug Store in Clifton 
and the Santa Fe Railroad knew him as their doctor on call.  Clifton had no 
hospital and Dr. Moore's patients were placed in a Temple hospital by train.  
About 1930 Dr. Goodall began practice in Clifton and Dr. Moore retired to his 
ranch at Hurst Springs, still practicing medicine until his death December 4, 
1940.  Mrs. Moore died Oct. 18, 1942 and they are buried in the Clifton 
Cemetery.
