Just found out my grandfather Paul BENNETT from Arkadelphia, Ark was living in Dawson County rfrom WWI Draft Cards.  He was married to Julia COOPER From Cottonwood, Tc., Callahan County.   First son my Father Paul Lanier BENNETT was born in Cottonwood,  2/19/1912, but no record o fhis brother Max C. BENNETT born either 1915 OR 1916.   My grandfather had two brothers and their family living in Dawson County at the time my grandfather died in Lubbock, Tx. 12/1918 from the flu epidemic.  After his death my grandmother moved to Abilene, Tx. where her brother and father lived.. The 1920 census shows her widowed and living with Lanier and Max   Same with the 1930 Census but no birthdates .  My uncle killed himself before he was 30.  Everyone I know is dead. So I can't ask anyone I would really appreciated any help you can give me. THANK YOU,  DERYL BENNETT

Yes there was a Gordon McGuire, Sr and family that lived in Dawson County and Lamesa, Texas. In the 1940"s   they had a farm in the Hancock Community, a Chysler-Plymouth Auto dealership in Lamesa and a summer cabin in Taos,  N.M. My mother was a friend to Mrs. Gordon McGuire, Sr. becaue we all lived in the Hancock community and my mother and Mrs. McGuires were artists. I don't remember Mr. McGuire but I do remember his son Gordon, Jr..I graduated with his only child, Anne, in 1947 from Lamesa High School. I believe the McGuire Sr.'s had a daughter named Betty that was married to a Freidy (or Freedy). I think everyone in this family that had lived in Dawson co is dead now. You may e-mail me at cueb@juno.com and I may can remember more or find out more about them.
