Hello, Fellow Family Members, I am trying to get a Family/Head count for the upcoming Canales Family reunion. I know it is next year but am just looking for a beginning count for room and booking info. Official forms will be sent out early 2010. Looks like it will be about $5.00 per adult. Date: 2010 Place: Jim Wells County Fair Grounds, HWY 281 Alice Texas Alice is only 38 miles from Tienditas family cemetery, and the original Canales farm. The Alice Fair Grounds can easily hold up to 1800 people or more. Lodging Info: Hotels: Holiday Inn Alice Tx, Camping Ground Info: RV Hookups with power at Fairgrounds. Duval County Camping: Double MRV Park Freer Tx, Falfurrias RV Park Rental car companies:Duval County: Enterprise Alice Tx. Events/Entertainment: (Detail info TBA early 2010) Music- Anyone with a family band that would like to volunteer let me know now before I book music. BYOB. Bring in Beer. Cans only. No glass. Speakers/Stories: Honor family member/celebrate a special birthday: Send suggestions. Plan to have newsletter passed out during reunion. Bring your Family tree chart and copy of photos and we can put them all together for a book. Disk or paper submissions. Bring a dish and recipe Fiesta: I will put together a family reunion cookbook with the recipes people share. If someone would like to set up a food vendor table, let me know. Perhaps a BBQ Contest with cash prizes- Bring in BBQ pits welcome. Need volunteer judges. Best Pork, Beef, Chicken. Suggestions welcome. Group photo area- Craft/Produce booths- If you have produce or homemade crafts you can set up a booth for free but I need a head count for booth room. T-shirt colors for family lines- Each family line wears a basic specific color T-shirt. Then each family is encouraged to ad a special touch to them, with names or a picture or a logo of your family. If you do not see your family line below email me with requests on colors for your family. Colors already assigned: Descendants of Juan Canales/Genoveva Vela wear RED. Descendants of Placido Canales/Eudelia Elizondo wear BLACK. Descendants of Descendants of General Canales reunion T-shirts may be available at reunion as well. Volunteer to design and manage this if needed. Do we have an artist in the family? If time allows I will set up a facebook or twitter site as well. Clean up provided. What I need -- Family name and line. How many?. Color your family would like to wear. Will you have a Produce/Craft booth, cook/judge in the BBQ contest, What food dish?
