Kay West's husband has West ancestors buried in Cotton Gin Cemetery. When he was still a little boy, his grandfather took him and other family members to this cemetery and showed them the grave of a daughter buried there. Her husband remembers there being a stone marking her grave in the 1970's. We went back a few years ago, and there is a concrete square border in the middle of the West plot and we are quite certain this is Gladys Lorene, 11 years old, daughter of James Henry and Nettie Jane (Massey) West. Gladys was born 9 November 1908 in Bremond and died 27 July 1919. James Henry was the younger brother of Isaac Moses West and William Taylor West, both of whom are buried in this cemetery. I did notice that William Taylor West date of birth is shown as 26 April 1861. My records show 26 April 1871. I'm not sure there is any way to positively prove that the concrete square marker is Gladys Lorene, but we know she was buried in the West plot in Cotton Gin Cemetery.
