Edward Monroe Watson, Sr. and Aubrey H. Bass operated a hatchery in Stewards Mill beginning in the 1920s. They not only sold Ancona and White Leghorn chickens, but hatched eggs for customers. They had a walk-in incubator with racks holding eggs and handles to rotate the eggs for proper heat. The business burned.
