Benjamin and Henry McCULLOCH were early Texas soldiers. These brothers were men who
went to find Matilda LOCKHART when she and the Putnam Children were kidnapped by the
Commanche. As I studied them I found that one of them had a duel with Reuben ROSS close
to Gonzales in 1839. Can someone please clarify 1) Who was in the Duel Benjamin or Henry E
McCULLOCH? 2) Was anyone killed? 3) Was Reben ROSS any relation to Robert Ellis ROSS
who married my gggrandmother Susannah BLAIR DOOLITTLE? 4) Does anyone know the
parents of Robert Ellis ROSS? I will be willing to share what I know. Thank you. Nancy Stevens

I have lost the name of someone who was doing current research on the STOREY family. I have
a book about the Family Storey that was written in the 1950's. I come from The John Thompson
Storey. John Thompson Storey of Chattooga Co, GA was born in 1796 at Spartanburg, S.C. for
some years he was a member of the GA legislature. He was a Col. of the militia, serving in the
numerous indian wars. He moved to Gonzales Co. TX, near Monthalia, in 1844 and saw service
in the Mexican war. He died on 11 nov 1858. Lucy McLESTER, his wife, was the Dau of John
McLester and Araminta GRAY, the latter being of the Gray family of England. (Someone needs
to check a primary source for this.) Lucy was born at Buncombe Co, N.C. on 25 sept 1797 and
died at lockhart, Texas on 15 aug 1874. Richard Lawson Storey was the only one who came
back to Georgia. Richard was born in Jackson Co, GA, 1 Feb 1823. He moved to Texas with his
parents in 1844, but returned to GA shortly thereafter--the only child of this branch to return to
GA. He served as secretary to the gov of GA, before Richard Lawson. Anthony Storey was born
in 1746, five years before his father moved to Fairforest, S.C. I would appreciate any help anyone
can give me.
