Could someone please lookup the 1870 Gonzales Co. census for me? There's a possibility that my
great-grandfather was there in 1870.... his name is John P. MONTGOMERY. I believe there is an
John P.Montgomery listed on the census. He would be listed as a child of another Montgomery.
Need to know all the information that is listed for him.....Father, Mother, siblings, ages and
birthplaces. Thank you for your help. T. Justus

Looking for info on Thomas ALSUP and Joel Alsup, who are said to be listed in the 1860 census
of Gonzles Co. or Guadalupe Co. Am searching in particularly for 3 children who were children
of Eliza A.E. Alsup DETHROW and Elias Samuel Dethrow. The father sent the children to family
and/or neighbors after their mother died in 1859. Possible that they were raised by Eliza's siblings.
The children were: Mary A. Dethrow (b1849 in MS); Susan Dethrow (b 1852 in MS); and
Thomas Dethrow (b 1853 in MS). When father came back to get the children, the children were
no where to be found in MS. Alsup family members were in Gonzales and Guadalupe Counties in
Texas by 1860. I have not seen this census, so would appreciate a lookup of that census. Thank
you.

I am researching my paternal family who lived im Monthalia, during the early 1880's and their are
cousins still living there, also we still use the cemetery located at Monthalia. My great
grandmother was Amanda CANADAY SATTERWHITE, she was the local mid-wife in the area.
I have information pertaining to all her children but I am trying to find out whether she was a
slave or a free person of color as she is listed in the 1880's census as mulatto. I would like to
know something about her before she married my great grandfather Ruben Satterwhite. I would
appreciate it if you could tell me if slave owners records are recorded at the court house in
Gonzales. Thank you. Autumn Keyes-Ita

George Samuel McGILL - b: April 22, 1881 in Hallettsville, Texas (Lavaca County); m: Deadro
Sylvester (Eddie) Halliburton July 17, 1906 in Waelder, Texas (Gonzales County); d: October 2,
1949 in Austin, Texas (Travis County). I have records for the above plus that he owned land in
Gonzales County. Relatives tell me George Samuel he had two sisters, Molly who never married
and Willie who married someone named French. Can't find any records on them. Relatives say
George Samuel's father (No one knows his name) owned some Indian slaves and lived somewhere
in East Texas. They also tell me that the slaves are buried on his property there. There is an old
picture with a sign in it that says McGill Reservation. They think he might have been part Indian
or married an Indian woman. If anyone researching the McGills, might have any information that
could get me out of the three above-mentioned counties it would be truly appreciated. There are
McGill's all over Texas but cannot seems to connect them to George Samuel. The few remaining
relatives are in their 90's and don't know how accurate they are with their stories. If anyone
thinks they may be able to give me a lead please e-mail me at smcgill@flash.net. Any information
you might have would help. Thanks. Sandi
