Following is the only information I have on Tom J. BURTON, my gr-gr grandfather: Tom J.
Burton b: abt. 1866; supposedly buried in Missouri City TX; married Minnie B. RICHBURG b:
abt. 1876 in ? TX, married in Gonzales, TX 9 Jan. 1893. This information (county and dates
comes from an IGI record just located). I had previously thought Minnie's name was Minnie U.
Richburg. I am told her father was Malcolm Richburg and the family was German. The only other
information I have on Tom is that he was Irish. The family story goes that when Tom and Minnie
eloped and married her father (Malcolm) disinherited her and never saw her alive again. Issue of
Tom J. Burton and Minnie Richburg: Alice Gertrude Burton - my maternal Grandmother; Mary
Elizabeth Burton; Francis Eliza Burton; Albert Burton (died in infancy); Jack Burton (died as a
young man - buried in Missouri City TX. The family story continues that the family went to the
Beaumont TX area when oil was discovered at Spindletop. There Minnie fell victim to an
epidimic, died and is supposedly buried in the area. Tom took the three girls to an orphanage in
San Antonio TX and left them there for care ... he would not allow them to be adopted. He kept
young Jack with him but he too fell ill and died at an early age (possibly in his teens). My
Grandmother told the story that the orphanage was Catholic and that it burned in later years. My
Gr-Aunt Mary ran away from the orphanage at the tender age of 13 and married a man she stayed
married to for over 50 years. After her "escape" Tom Burton allowed the remaining girls, Alice
and Francis, to go with a Bob and Minnie (?) ANDERSON either in Gonzales or Caldwell
County and be raised by them. I have no other information. The people I should have asked are
no longer living. My Aunt and Mother (both in their late 70's) asked me to see if I could find the
family. I would sincerely appreciate any information or direction you could provide. Please
respond to the e-mail address shown below as I am using my son-in-law's computer and his e-mail
always pops up! Thank you, Linda Bradberry Lawler, mamere@hotmail.com, Elgin IL

I am looking for my ggggrandmother's marriage information . Her name was Mary McGREGOR.
The date was April 14, 1844 and recorded according to my information in Gonzales, Texas. She
married Stephen Robert TURNER. I would also like to check and see if she was born in
Gonzales as I have no information of her birth or her parents. Mary McGregor gave birth to my
gggrandmother Sarah Elizabeth Turner on Sept. 3, 1845 and Wm. H. Turner on June 20, 1848.
She died sometime after that and before August, 1853. Stephen Robert Turner remarried on the
August, 1853 date to Christina Wedemier. At some point Stephen Robert Turner moved to
Refugio, Texas. Stephen Robert Turner's sister Deborah Turner married Ahijah Morris Highsmith
sometime between 1811 and 1818. I appreciate any help that you might be able to give me. I am
new to genealogy and I find this all very exciting. Karen Davis, 1034 Bradshaw, Corpus Christi,

It appears that WM. HALSEL and his children are shown on the 1860 Census for Hopkinsville,
Gonzales Co, living between two of the STEWART families. Can anyone identify this man?
I thought he was "my" William V. Halsel at first, but his age and the ages of his children don't
match at all with other, very scant, information on "my" William? And what was his profession? It
could be "Bar Keeper" or maybe "Bee Keeper"? Was he related to the Stewart families? Any
information would be *very* much appreciated!

The BUNTE family, seven members, came from Braunschweig, Germany in l853, on a ship
named SUWA out of Hanover. They landed in the Port of Galveston. According to Louis
Burchard's obit. of 1816 the family traveled to Gonzales County where he married Augusta; one
of his brothers, August, married one of Augusta's sister. Johanna Bunte married Heinrich
Valentin RIEMENSCHNEIDER, who came on the same boat at the same time and who traveled
from the Port of Galveston the the Port of Indianola and then came across to Hallettsville and
settled, opened a furniture building shop and married Johanna. I am not sure where to look. I
appreciate any help on this matter. Barbara Gee Riemenschneider

married to a woman named Juanita B. Smith but have no confirmation of that information. My
name is Shannan Smith (great-granddaughter of Arthur Byrd Smith). My address/email/and phone

I'm trying to find out information on Greenbury WORTHEY (don't have b/d dates but he married
Elizabeth PERRY 29 April 1784 - probably not in Texas). His son, Fleming John Worthey
married Virginia Josie "Jo" CARAWAY in Gonzales Co on 8 Aug 1868. John was born 28 Nov
1839 and died in Gonzales Co (Nixon) 19 Aug 1929. "Jo" was born in Mississippi in 1848 and I
have her family traced back to the early 1600s, but can't find anything on John's dad, Greenbury.
From Greenbury and Elizabeth's marriage date, it looks like I may even be missing a generation
since he and Elizabeth would have been around 70 when John was born. Thank you for any
information you can offer.
