James T. , the son of Charles and Maranda Galloway, lost a leg in the 1st Battle of Bull Run trying to save the life of his Colonel. I have a picture made in the 1980's by my uncle of James' tombstone with the service marker at the foot. He notes that this marker was laid by the Texas Historical Commission during the 1930's. The dates as shown above on both the tombstone and service marker are very clear. Malinda Hawthorne
