Parallel parking next week
People who have not learned the fine art of Parallel parking might as well start practicing right now, if they intend parking down  town.
Mayor Roger Moore yesterday announced that no more head-in parking will be allowed in the down town area after Sunday, July 31.
The move comes as a result of recommendations made by a survey conducted by the traffic engineering department of the state highway department and is only part of a detailed report to Seguin city officials on traffic problems here.  Other recommendations submitted in the survey probably will be given consideration from time to time. Among these is the two hour parking limit, which may have to be invoked because of  "all-day" parkers.  Parking meters were not recommended in the survey.
The city will mark all streets for parallel parking, and the markings will indicate to the driver the method of parking.  Only a few blocks, beyond the confines of the business district, remain with head-in parking.  The special area involved in this change includes all of Austin Street, all of Camp Street, all of River Street and the blocks connecting these by all cross streets between Nolte Bank and the Aumont Hotel at Mountain Street.  This Mountain, Gonzales, Court, Center and MArket Streets east and west will be affected.
The mayor said that the Chamber of Commerce, Junior Chamber and Fire Department joined with the city in urging fullest cooperation by merchants and citizens in complying with the recommendations made by the best authority on parking that could be obtained.
