Comments:Hiram's family group sheet for 1st wife preceedes this one. (1) COLLEGE MOUND CEMETERY, Kaufman County, TX Knowles, Hiram K. Jan 28, 1807 - May 24, 1879 Knowles, Mary E. Linton Feb. 20, 1820 - March 20, 1891 (2) James Monroe Knowles was in the Civil War; he lived in MO and is listed on the Bollinger County, MO 1890 Civil War Vet Census (in Union Twp). Monroe and Laura Knowles were living in Union Twp, Bollinger Co, MO in 1870. James and his wife, Laura Melvina KNOWLES, have also been recorded as "of Patton", MO (Patton is in Bollinger County). It is possible that James was son of Hester (Gibbs) and John Knowles as they had a son "J. M." same age as "James M." listed in the 1850 census. John had died in 1848 and Hester was a widow. Hester and son Benjamin Clardy Knowles and daughter Permelia G. Knowles continued to live in Bollinger County, MO. (Hester was again widowed in 1870 -- her surname was SMITH). |
