Comments:

William Love is considered to be one of the very first pioneers of Kaufman Co.  The story of his pioneering family has been noted in Dr. Horace Flatt's book, "The Big Garden, a History of Early Kaufman County" and he is mentioned in Kate Elfnor's book on Texas pioneers.
He first migrated to Lamar Co in 1842, then purchased 320 acres of land in Red River County in 1844 and 640 acres of land in Washington County before buying land in Nacogdoches (now Kaufman) County with Toby Scrip.  He is listed on the "Texas Poll Lists of 1846" as living in Washington County.  William & his sons Andrew, James & John are listed as males above age of 21 on the 1840 Pike Co MO census.  On the 1850 Kaufman County Census, Francis Tabor, the widow of Wiliam P. King was living in his household.
He raised livestock and took an active roll in early Kaufman County government.  He died exactly 30 days after his wife, apparently both became afflicted in the same epidemic.
