The Charter Meeting of the Boerne Area Historic Preservation Society was held in the home of Mrs. Edgar (Ruby) Bergmann on December 9, 1970. The Charter from the State of Texas was received, officers were elected and the Bylaws of the organization were read and accepted by the nine ladies present. Each member was elected to a position on the Board.
The purpose for which this Society is formed is to engage in and encourage the preservation of the natural beauty of the community and of historical buildings, objects and places; thus keeping legible the history of the Boerne area, to the end that knowledge of the rich historic and inherited community values may be more widely appreciated and not be lost.

Today, the BAHPS has a membership of one hundred sixty men and women. The Kuhlmann-King Historical House, a restored residence located off Blanco Street is on display by the organization to show visitors the collection of antique furniture, clothing and other period items such as utensils, dishes, clothes, pottery, linens, toys, dolls, porcelain, quilts, etc.

Next door to the Kuhlmann-King House is the Graham Building used as a museum and as an office for the organization until recently. This was a local building donated by Mrs. and Mrs. Tom Frost and moved to the present site.
The Archives in the Historical House officially opened in 1971 with some old newspapers, donated pictures and family histories. These growing files were moved to the Boerne Public Library where they share a room with the Genealogical Society collection of books and the Boerne Cemetery Foundation records.

Membership is open to all persons who satisfy the annual dues requirement of $15.00 per person; or $20.00 per couple; Donations are tax deductible. Meetings are held monthy except July, August and December. The meetings are open to all. Please join us at the next meeting. Activities are published in the newsletter, MOUNTAIN LAUREL, which is sent to all members
