Hefner School

In 1887 the commisioners' Court of Knox County created a school district known as Precinct 5. It was a school district south of the Brazos River, west of the Baylor County line and extending to the Haskell County line. This was the district for both Hefner and Goree until 1906. This building, a four room brick building was built in 1921 to replace a three room wooden building at a cost of $12,000. The last school term held at Hefner was 1943-1944. After 1944, pupils were taken by bus to Goree. (Knox County History-1966 published by Knox County Historical Society.)

"This was in my aunt's collection without any identifying information.  Perhaps if posted some of the children/teacher could be identified.  The picture was taken 4-20-1921 but I'm not even sure it's "Hefner School"..."
