My gggrandfather joined the Confederacy, I believe from Leon
County. His name was William Houston Irwin. Here is what

American Civil War Regiments REGIMENT: 22nd Infantry Regiment Texas Regiment State: Texas Regiment Type: Infantry Regiment Number: 22nd Regimental Soldiers and History: List of Soldiers Regimental History 22nd Texas Infantry Rgt. Col. Richard B. Hubbard, LtCols. John J. Canon, Elias E. Lott, Maj. Benjamin F. Parker The regiment was formed in the summer of 1862 using the 5th (Hubbard's) Texas Infantry Bn. and included men from Palestine, Quitman, Livingston, Mason and Tyler. It was assigned to O. Young's, Waul's brigade, Trans-Mississippi Department. Battles Fought It fought at Young's Point and Jenkins' Ferry. It moved to Shreveport, La. and then to Hempstead, Texas.
