Nine miles south of Mexia, Texas.
Seven miles east of Groesbeck, Texas.

Luther Thomas Martin Plummer was born in Maryland in 1811. His father died and he was being raised by an uncle. At age 15, LTM ran away to loin the Canadian Army so that he could fight Indians. Instead, he was forced to do hard labor in the mines. Escaping, he went to Illinois where he met and married Rachel Plummer. They came to Ft. Parker with her people.

At the time of the massacre in 1836, LTM was in the field working. When he learned his wife Rachel and son Pratt had been captured, he grabbed a butcher knife and began looking for them. LTM almost lost his mind worrying about his wife and son. The Doctor who attended him made an affidavit absolving him from any blame for their capture. He censured himself for bringing his young bride to the Texas wilderness, but was comforted by the fact that she wanted to come with her people, the Parkers.

After some time he heard that Rachel was in Pecos, Texas and sent $150.00 for her ransom. Coming partially by freight wagons, she finally arrived in Springfield, Texas, February 19, 1838. January 4, 1839, Rachel gave birth to her third child. She had given birth to the second Plummer child in captivity and it had been killed by the Indians.

Rachel soon died and LTM married again. This time he married Mary Lauderdale and to this union seven children were born. [His third wife, Angeline Glenn Plummer, bore eleven children. Orion and John D. Plummer are descendants of this union. John D. still lives on the original Plummer place.

The earliest date to be found in the Plummer Cemetery is 1839.

In 1952 an annual Memorial was begun at this Cemetery. A tabernacle was built and later a cyclone fence put around it.

In 1969 at the Memorial the Plummer Cemetery Association voted to erect a large sign over the gate leading to the Cemetery, so that for generations to come no one would  have to hunt for the burial place of the Plummer descendants of Old Fort Parker.
