A treasure trove of information can be found in the vertical files of
any library. In an effort to reveal some of the treasures of
Montgomery County Memorial Library, Genealogy Room's Family Vertical
Files,
Jean Smoorenburg
and Phyllis Stehm and have begun
abstracting the family vertical files. Come back often because they
will be adding information as fast as they can. They are filed
alphabetically by surname.

33 Additions
to Vertical Files – March 7, 2009

Recently while Valarie Garza was working on another project in the library
she found on a microfilm of the Courier for 1963 the republication of a 1913
Courier
which was a treasure trove of information. She made several copies of the
document. On one of these copies we went through and highlighted the names
of individuals. As Ann Laird went though the vertical files, she
determined those on which no vertical file existed. The complete file
of 22 pages on the 1913
Courier can be found in the general
vertical file under "Montgomery County Newspapers".
