Johann Peter REICH (John Peter)
(1808-1883) was born in the Moravian Community of Friedberg,
present day Forsyth County, North Carolina. He married Lydia
M. LOCKENOUR (some sources say PRIEST) (1813-1881) in the 1830s,
probably in Kentucky or Indiana. They were the parents of ten
known children, including three sets of twins. The first three
children were born in Indiana and the remaining seven children
in Itawamba County, Mississippi. In c1852 the family moved to
the present day area of around Quitman, Wood County, Texas where
John Peter REICH and his wife Lydia died and are buried at the
Turner Cemetery, at Redlands. The first child was Rhodes P. REICH
(b. c1832? in IN) of whom nothing is known. The second child
was Melissa Elizabeth REICH (1838-???) who married William (Gottleib?)
APEL (1823-1898) in 1858 in Wood County, TX. They had at least
four children, the eldest, Hiram, was sheriff of Quitman (or
Wood County?) for many years. The third child, Maria E. REICH
(1838-???) married Joseph Ellis PINSON, probably in Wood County.
They raised a family of at least six children and lived in Wood
County. The fourth child, Louisa Rebecca REICH (1840-1912) married
James Franklin MARTIN (1835-1899). They lived in Wood County
and had at least nine children. The fifth child, Louesa Amelia
REICH (1840-1912) married Dr. James Davis TURNER (1806-1880)
and then twice more. She and James are buried at Turner Cemetery.
They had seven known children. The sixth child was James Henry
REICH (1844-1906) who married Mary Elizabeth HENDRIX (1841-1890)
in 1867 at Wood County and Fannie M. FERGUSON WRIGHT (1853-???)
in 1891 at Wood County. James had six children. James and Mary
are buried at the Concord Cemetery in Wood County. The seventh
child was John W. REICH (1846-???) who married Nancy GILBREATH
(1834-???). They had four known children and are buried at Concord
Cemetery. The eight child was Benjamin REICH (1846-???), of whom
nothing is known. The ninth child is Joshua Tumor REICH (1848-1941)
who married Susan Ann WIGGINS (1852-1920) and lived in Wood County
and are buried at Turner Cemetery. They had five children. The
tenth and final child was Sarah Jane REICH (1850-1931) who married
