Seeking information on Israel
COX (b. about 1810, SC) and his descendants. Israel COX appears
in the 1860 Wood County census, but I can't find anything else
for him after that date. They may have lived in the Springville
area of Wood County. He and his wife, Elizabeth (HUDGINS) COX
(b. 1819, Winchester, Franklin CO., TN, d. ?) were married in
1836 in Bellefonte, Jackson Co., AL. In 1854, they moved to Tarrant
County along with Elizabeth's brother, El Nathan HUDGINS, a Methodist
minister, and his family. Israel COX was also a Methodist minister,
having been involved with the Wills Valley mission in Alabama.
They had moved to Wood County from Tarrant County some time between
1859 and 1860. One of their sons, James William COX, told a grandchild
that after the Civil War, he (James) took his younger brother
Samuel and they wandered the countryside, surviving as well as
they could. Thus, I assume that both of their parents had died
during the war. I would very much like to know when they died
and where they are buried. Israel and Elizabeth's children were
as follows: John B. COX - (b. abt. 1837 in Jackson Co., AL, m.
Elizabeth BRUDIN in 1859, m. Clearacy ? bef. 1868, d. ?). John's
children, as listed in the 1870 Wood Co. census, were John (female??!

and Samuel's children were S. R. (female b. abt. 1862), J. R.
